Matt Young’s Monday Pinjarra Preview Posted on May 5, 2025May 5, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 Not a lot of exposed form in this when we are looking at COHLIN (1) being a major player again, at his best he would just lead and win this, but he has been a bit below recently and that’s hard to get excited about even though he should lead and be there in the finish. BEALAWYER (5) just finds it hard to win but has been consistent in this grade and is ready to win. SUN AND SAND (2) will get a good run and could fly under the radar at value. SUNPATRA (3) could improve in this grade, but recent form hasn’t been flattering. ASHIMA (4) is racing soundly but prefer her on the rail. DEE JAYS BIG BOY (6) had a tough run last start sitting 3 wide the trip. FIREPLAY (8) could win if he leads but highly doubt, he can cross the pole marker. Tips: 1 5 4 3 Suggested Bet: COHLIN (1) to win. Race 2 CAPTAINS CREEK (4) returns and has the draw advantage over the main rivals in the race, has speed and looks the likely leader and hard to run down from there. MAJOR MIKI WHITBY (6) has come back in tip top order, and this is a good test for him but think he can measure up strongly if asked to do the bullocking in the event. IM MASSIMO (5) has plenty of high speed and with the smallish field on return, he will be getting home strongly. CAPTAIN SAID SO (7) has shown promise but needs some luck from the draw. WAVE REBELLION (1) has shown ability, returns from the good draw and can be included in the back end of your novelties to play it safe. Tips: 4 6 5 7 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINS CREEK/MAJOR MIKI WHITBY to Quinella. Race 3 MAJESTIC GA GA (2) has been a beaten favourite in the two WA runs, has raced over the mile from a mobile and the longer trip from a stand, moves to the middle distance here and has the decent draw, still hard to get a gauge on where she is at. Last run was decent but in moderate time, looks a major player but wouldn’t want to be diving in too short. QUIGGLEY (10) can win but same old story with him is you don’t know which version you are going to get. KVINTET HILL (9) was impressive last time out and is heading in the right direction. LOTS OF CHANGE (7) wasn’t beaten far behind some of the good trotters in the state in his WA debut. MAJESTIC MARION (1) is a novelty chance from the draw and PEACHEE (12) is capable. Tips: 9 2 10 7 Suggested Bet: KVINTET HILL (9) each way. Race 4 Open race. IM EUGENE (4) had a torrid run last time out and looks to have found a more suitable grade, he has got plenty of early speed and could run to the lead here and be hard to beat. His overall form isn’t sensational so it’s a take on trust. HOTFOOT IT (1) I would be keen he’d run a good race if he had a run under his belt, but the trial wasn’t conclusive, and he may need a few runs. MORE THAN HONOURED (5) has got a turn of foot and should settle close enough to them, the short course may suit. FEELING EMPATHY (7) is suited in this type of race but speed underneath makes it harder to see her cross. HUGHEY (3) was better last time out. TORREVEAN PINKY (6) is consistent. Tips: 4 5 6 1 Suggested Bet: MORE THAN HONOURED (5) each way. Race 5 PHILTHEJUG (4) has come back from the freshen up well, has good early speed and is likely to run to the top here, not a deep race so expecting her to lead and hold and should run a big race. HURRICANEHOPE (5) is working back to better form and appears the main danger. ELEPHANT ROCK (6) hasn’t had much luck recently and will require some of that from the draw but the class suits. CARA DIANA (1) has drawn well on return, place chance. KARAOKE STAR (7) is a novelty chance from the wide draw. Tips: 4 5 6 1 Suggested Bet: PHILTHEJUG (4) to win. Race 6 SUNDANCER RAINBOW (6) is looking for 4 wins in a row and there is no reason she can’t do it here, she has had some luck recently but at the heart of it she has good closing speed, her confidence is up, and she is sustaining that speed, hard to beat again. LUCIENNE (1) is nicely drawn and has sound enough gate speed, should settle close to them. IDEAL IVANA (4) is racing well and no reason she can’t perform well again. ASHANTI PRINCESS (3) is racing consistently but lacks early brilliance off the arm. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (7) is capable but the draw hurts. VYBRANT (8) won well last run and just needs some tempo on to suit her. Tips: 6 4 1 8 Suggested Bet: SUNDANCER RAINBOW (6) to win. Race 7 SEAGRASS (5) gets into this race well, she has good early speed and can use that to work her way to the top, from there looks hard to beat. ERA (4) has the speed to potentially cross these but rising to the middle distance makes life harder. BARBADOS (7) is racing well but the draw is not ideal. OUR LILILOU (11) is better suited sit and kick and cuddled up for as long as possible from tough draws, so this isn’t going to be an easy task. SWIZZLESTICK (12) didn’t impress that much on WA debut, good test in this. PRIDDAH (8) is racing well and has drawn in well to play into the novelties with THE FREELANCER (1). Tips: 5 11 12 7 Suggested Bet: SEAGRASS (5) to win. Race 8 Looks to be some speed on here which could suit SMOKEYS SHADOW (6) who trialled up well and think his best asset is his high speed, just needs to find a position and then he will be dangerous. ALLWOOD MACH (7) is one that can do some work and is racing at the top of his game, can go well. RAJAH ROCKS (5) was solid last time out and if he could find the lead without burning too much, he becomes the one to beat. LUKE ATTACK (1) is a novelty chance after a better last run and nice draw again. SUKHOVEY WINDSTORM (4) is never far away. RELATIVELY ARMA (11) will be running on. Tips: 6 7 5 4 Suggested Bet: SMOKEYS SHADOW (6) each way. Race 9 SUGAR DELIGHT (4) returns and has shown promise, bumps into a moderate race and can show his best in this. Might need the run so that is the danger you roll with. FLYING FELIX (6) will be running on and has racing fitness on his side. CHIEF COPY (9) comes in fresh and is in the mix. JILLIBY MOJITO (8) probably not as well suited from the draw. THE BIG KABOOSH (2) disappointed last time out but can bounce back in this. HOLD YOUR FIRE (1) a novelty chance with SWITCH BLADE (7) normally wouldn’t have them so close together but the draws make this harder for the latter. Tips: 4 6 2 9 Suggested Bet: SUGAR DELIGHT (4) to win. Race 10 Open race to close this meeting. BETTERTHAN SECRET (7) has been racing consistently and showed some toughness last start, she is just racing with great confidence and can run a big race here. LUHRSY (1) can elevate and improve nicely from the draw, looks the likely leader in the event. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (5) hit the line well last start and could be dangerous late. STAPLETON (8) is racing well at this trip but tough draw. BLOCKJORG (3) had her chance last time out. CALL TO ARMS (4) is consistent in this grade. Tips: 7 1 5 8 Suggested Bet: BETTERTHAN SECRET (7) each way. Market Market
