Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on February 20, 2025February 20, 2025 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 MISS ARIA closed off well in a stronger race first up and should be suited by a likely solid tempo. SAMANGU was below market expectations last start but has jumped out well since and can bounce back. PONDALOWIE is another to jump out well between runs and will appreciate the extra 100m. TONKIN is winning easier races in good style and can give a sight. Selections: 1,5,3,7 Suggested Bet: Miss Aria each way Race 2 WINNASEDGE didn’t have the best of luck in a key lead up race and will strip fitter second up. DON’T HOPE DO comes through the same race and will also strip fitter with a gap between runs leading into that. LEGIO TEN was solid with some excuses first up for the new stable and will be strong late. BELLINGER and TOP CALIBRE have claims. Selections: 9,7,5,1 Suggested Bet: Winnasedge each way Same Race Multi: Winnasedge (Top 2) + Don’t Hope Do (Top 4) Race 3 Good race with a few up and comers. EMPHASIZE has impressed at his last two and his win against the older horses at BM70 level last start reads well. SHANWAH also impressed defeating the older horses last start and appeared to relish the rise to 1800m. ENTRUSTING is another with upside that seemed to appreciate 1800m last time. CONFETTI GARDEN is racing through the grades good style, but this is tougher. Selections: 5,4,3,6 Suggested Bet: Emphasize to win Race 4 Expect TROPICUS to be ridden a touch more conservatively second up after getting keen but still sticking on well first up. He’s been back to the jumpouts since and gets blinkers and a cross over nose band on. SERGEANT MAJOR was luckless first up last prep and has jumped out well to resume. LOFTY ARCH looks promising and was given a solid hit out to win a recent jumpout. SHADAVAR and YES LULU have a case. Selections: 2,5,1,9 Suggested Bet: Tropicus each way Race 5 TREASURETHE MOMENT was dominant leading into the Oaks during the spring, she has the sharpness to be effective at this trip and has jumped out in great style to resume. TOO DARN LIZZIE has trialled well in Sydney, she’ll give a sight and shapes as the main danger. QATARS CHOICE should have finished closer to an impressive wine last start and was scratched last week for this race. PERFECT PICTURE measured up well chasing a promising one, who has won again since, last time. BENAGIL didn’t have h best of luck in the 1000 Guineas and has jumped out ok for her return. Selections: 1,2,6,8 Suggested Bet: Treasurethemoment to win Race 6 SEMANA was far from disgraced at G1 WFA and can settle closer from a low draw. GRINZINGER BELLE brings an impressive first up record and has jumped out in good style. COUER VOLANTE did enough first up and get blinkers following an impressive jumpout between runs. SO GLAMOROUS will strip fitter and appreciate the rise in distance. Selections: 4,2,6,8 Suggested Bet: Semana each way Race 7 MR BRIGHTSIDE is likely to roll forward and is sure to prove the one to bet after a gallant first up run. EVAPORATE was luckless first up and has shown the versatility to take a forward position. I WISH I WIN probably doesn’t want it too firm but has been jumping out well and is a proven G1 performer. TOM KITTEN and PERICLES have both trialled well in Sydney. PRIVATE LIFE did enough first up behind Mr Brightside and is sure to have taken benefit from that run. Selections: 1,11,2,4 Suggested Bet: Mr Brightside to win Race 8 FIELD OF PLAY has looked good at his two wins to date, he’s drawn favourably and should relish the step back to 1200m following his victory in the Prelude. CHERISH ME has had a gap since her impressive debut but has jumped out in good style and gets a tongue tie on. MY GLADIOLA may not have ben suited leading last start and doubt there’s much between her and PALM ANGEL. TYCOON STAR has the wide draw but hit the line well in the Prelude and gets blinkers. DEVIL NIGHT ran much better than market expectations on debut in the Prelude and maps for another soft run. Selections: 1,14,15,11 Suggested Bet: Field Of Play each way Race 9 ESTRIELLA may not have come up last prep but her recent trial indicates she’s ready to go first up. JIMMYSSTAR has an impressive first up record, he was luckless in the G1 Rupert Clarke last time and has been jumping out well to resume. REY MAGNERIO will strip fitter for a strong first up win and his form ties in well. ARABIAN SUMMER rises in grade but has a great winning habit and gets down in the weights. Selections: 2,7,5,16 Suggested Bet: Estriella each way Race 10 DASHING DUCHESS is a previous second up winner and closed off well here over 1600m first up. POSITIVITY has jumped out ok between runs, she will appreciate the rise in trip and the synthetic hoof filler coming off reads as a positive gear change. TORRANZINO may have been in inferior ground in the same race as Dashing Duchess and will also benefit from the rise in distance. DENY KNOWLEDGE has jumped out quite well and can give a sight. SHAIYHAR is racing well at this trip and has claims. Selections: 8,7,11,1 Suggested Bet: Dashing Duchess each way Market Market
