Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 25, 2024July 25, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ROCKNROLL SPIRIT (2) was a strong Northam winner from the breeze in moderate time before taking up the same position when 5th to Gee Smith at this track. He enjoys the barrier advantage over his main rivals here and will be hard to catch if he can find the front. RODASI (12) has the best form in the event and is the obvious danger despite the backline draw. BARBADOS (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous late. TUBBS FARQUAR (7) has been unplaced at his last five starts but drops in class and can improve. Tips: 2 12 10 7 Suggested Bet: ROCKNROLL SPIRIT (2) to win. Race 2 MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (1) has impressed with wins at two of his last three starts in quick time. The rise in class is offset by the pole draw and he will be the one to beat if he can hold up at the start. RUBINS PLIGHT (10) has battled wide barriers at his first two runs back from a spell but follows speed well and can run a big race here. SOLESSEO MATUCA (8) drops in class tonight but has another tough draw to overcome. LOUCID DREAMS (3) is always thereabouts and can win with the right run. Tips: 1 10 8 3 Suggested Bet: MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (1) to win. Race 3 PENNY BLACK (11) made it five in a row when she stepped up in class and defeated a similar field to what she meets tonight. She starts from the same barrier here and is clearly the one to beat. LITTLE DARLING (6) didn’t handle the pressure here last week but ran a game 2nd to PENNY BLACK (11) at her previous start and must be considered on that effort. CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (1) ran a nice 3rd behind the favoured pair at her last start and should be right in the finish again. POCKET THE CHANGE (7) goes up in class tonight but is racing well. Tips: 11 6 1 7 Suggested Bet: PENNY BLACK (11) to win. Race 4 SEBASTIAN JAMES (1) led throughout to narrowly defeat a similar field at his last start and appeals as the one to beat from the pole over the sprint trip. HOLD THE AMMO (11) sprinted brilliantly when winning at Bunbury at his last start and will be charging home. CAPTAIN STIRLING (2) faced the breeze when narrowly beaten by the polemarker at his last start and should make his presence felt again. LOUIE VEE (10) has battled wide barriers at his two runs back from a spell but can improve sharply from his nice trailing draw tonight. Tips: 1 11 2 10 Suggested Bet: SEBASTIAN JAMES (1) to win. Race 5 LUSAKA (11) has been in the money at his last ten starts and didn’t lose any admirers despite being beaten into 3rd as a $1.80 favourite at his last start. He has only had one start from the stand but should fight out the finish if he steps safely. OTIS (10) resumed with a strong win under these conditions and will be hard to beat if he can maintain his handicap advantage over his two main rivals. CARANA (12) is a proven stand performer and trialled nicely at Byford. ROCK ARTIST (3) has won three of his last five starts and will give a great sight if he can find the top. Tips: 11 10 12 3 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (11) to win. Race 6 NEVER ENDING (6) resumed with a narrow but ultra-impressive win and is clearly the one to beat despite not being suited by the sprint trip. SOHO DOW JONES (1) has hit the line nicely at his two runs back from a spell and will give them something to catch if he can hold up at the start. HAMPTON BANNER (5) excels at this trip and will give cheek if he can cross at the start. TALKS UP A STORM (2) was held up for a run first-up and won’t be far away from his nice draw. Tips: 6 1 5 2 Suggested Bet: NEVER ENDING (6) to win. Race 7 LET IT LINGA (1) has a losing sequence of 17 but his last two efforts have been full of merit and he should be in the firing line throughout from the pole. SWAGGER MAN (9) was an impressive winner against weaker company here last week and will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. BLAZE COOPS (3) will give a sight if he can cross at the start but he is a bit one-dimensional. AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS (2) is first-up without as trial but is drawn to enjoy a soft run behind the speed and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 9 3 2 Suggested Bet: LET IT LINGA (1) to win. Race 8 WHATARETHEODDS (7) has resumed in top form and ran on well from back in the field to finish a close 2nd to SORRIDERE (6) and is capable of turning the tables tonight. SORRIDERE (6) still has the barrier advantage over his main rival and should prove hard to beat again. CROWD CONTROL (4) settled at the rear when 7th behind the favoured pair at his last start but should be more prominent tonight and can figure in the finish. CONEY ISLANDS LOU (8) started favourite in that event but disappointed and he has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 7 6 4 8 Suggested Bet: WHATARETHEODDS (7) to win. Race 9 SUGAR STREET (1) was only placed in one of his six starts last time in and hasn’t been seen since in trials but he will give a great sight from the pole if he is anywhere near his best. CLASSIC CHOICE (2) was a fair 6th at his first run back from a spell in a stronger field and he looks a major player here. LETS GET ROCKIN (6) drops in class on his recent assignments and can play a part. MY ULTIMATE CHEVRON (8) couldn’t get into the race first-up but he has shown ability and can improve sharply. Tips: 1 2 6 8 Suggested Bet: SUGAR STREET (1) to win. Race 10 BENJI (5) loomed up but peaked on his run when 4th to October Reign here last week and he looks the one to beat tonight after drawing inside his main rivals. LAMANDIER (8) has been placed in four of his five starts this time in and should fight out the finish again. IDEAL TOMADO (6) ran on well to finish 3rd to Mandown here last week and must be considered on that effort. HENGHENG (7) has been thereabouts lately and consistent racing should have him close to his best for this assignment. Tips: 5 8 6 7 Suggested Bet: BENJI (5) to win. Market Market
