Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 11, 2024July 11, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CAPTAIN BLIGH (5) has a losing sequence of eight and has generally been disappointing but his last effort when 3rd in quick time after facing the breeze was full of merit and he will be hard to beat if he reproduces that run. TEN TO THE DOZEN (11) is a 3YO resuming here against older horses but he has plenty of ability and must be considered. LOUCID DREAMS (3) wasn’t far away when 5th here last week and drops in class tonight. FRISKY STYX (9) has impressed in winning his last two starts and defeated a stronger field on Monday but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 5 3 11 9 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN BLIGH (5) to win. Race 2 PENNY BLACK (11) hasn’t tasted defeat in her four WA starts and her closing sectionals indicate that she is ready for the rise in class. SOHO SERAPHINE (12) led throughout to defeat a similar field last start but will have to overcome a back line draw tonight. LITTLE DARLING (4) has caught the eye at her last two starts and must be considered from a better barrier. DAME VALOUR (1) wasn’t far away when 4th to SOHO SERAPHINE (12) at her last start and is drawn to be prominent throughout here. Tips: 11 12 4 1 Suggested Bet: PENNY BLACK (11) to win. Race 3 MY ULTIMATE BAXTER (5) overcame a wide barrier when he faced the breeze and won in 1.55.6 here two starts back and will be hard to beat if he can reproduce that effort. ME FLASH (2) led throughout in quick time two starts back and should be thereabouts from his nice draw. FLYING RUMOUR (12) ran a nice 5th first-up and he raced in stronger company last time in so must be respected. WHOS THE DAD (6) likes the sprint trip and can play a part if he has any luck from his awkward draw. Tips: 5 2 12 6 Suggested Bet: FLYING RUMOUR (12) each way. Race 4 LUSAKA (12) continues to race extremely consistently and followed a strong win here with a close 2nd to ROCKMYSTER (8) and should be right in the finish again despite the back line draw. ARMA XFACTOR (3) has been battling wide barriers but will be hard to catch if he can use his good gate speed to cross at the start. HILLVIEW BONDI (1) will also be trying to lead and will run a big race in front or sitting just behind the speed. SOLESSEO MATUCA (6) hasn’t had much luck of late and should make his presence felt. Tips: 12 3 1 6 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (12) to win. Race 5 JUMPINGJACKMAC (3) disappointed at his last start but his previous form was first class and he has the advantage of the draw and race fitness over his two main rivals. NEVER ENDING (4) is the state’s rising star and he has bigger fish to fry but can still win this first-up if he gets the right run in transit. TENZING BROMAC (5) is another with plenty of ability who is also resuming and must be respected. THE MIKI TAKER (1) was a god winner here last week and the rise in class is offset by the pole draw and he should be thereabouts. Tips: 3 4 5 1 Suggested Bet: JUMPINGJACKMAC (3) to win. Race 6 OTIS (12) was a good all-the-way winner at his last start before a spell and warmed up for this assignment with a dominant Pinjarra trial victory. He has a 10m handicap advantage over the favourite and should run a big race if he can step cleanly. YOURE SO FINE (13) worked hard when a narrow but strong winner at his last start and is capable of overcoming the back mark. CALIENTE (3) and LUCAPELO (4) are both last start country winners and will give cheek if they can find the front. Tips: 12 13 3 4 Suggested Bet: OTIS (12) each way. Race 7 ELWADDELL (2) has been battling wide barriers when finishing just behind the placegetters at his last two starts but appeals as the one to beat from his nice draw tonight. SWAGGER MAN (4) disappointed at his last start but must be considered on his previous form. MAJOR OVERS (3) was blocked for a run at his last start but can make his own luck tonight and should be thereabouts. LORD PUBLISHER (1) hasn’t been seen for five weeks but is drawn to be prominent throughout and can be in the finish at each way odds. Tips: 2 4 3 1 Suggested Bet: ELWADDELL (2) to win. Race 8 VEGAS STRIP (1) has won his last four starts including the Golden Slipper and is clearly the one to beat first-up from the pole. BET THE HOUSE (5) won four of his five starts last time in and is the obvious danger but the map doesn’t look in his favour. QUINTON (2) doesn’t have the class of many of his rivals but draws to get a perfect run and can be placed. THELITTLE MASTER (6) is a capable type and he can figure in the finish if he gets the right cart into the race. Tips: 1 5 2 6 Suggested Bet: VEGAS STRIP (1) to win. Race 9 CAPTAIN STIRLING (3) impressed at his third race start when he led from this barrier and won in 1.56.2 at Pinjarra. He is the best drawn of the main chances and appeals as the one to beat. LAKE PICHOLA (4) overcame a backline draw to defeat IM MASSIMO (5) on debut and clearly has plenty of ability. IM MASSIMO (5) followed his narrow 2nd on debut with a comfortable all-the-way win in good time at his next start and looms as a major player again. LOUIE VEE (8) disappointed as a $1.24 favourite first-up but must be respected on the form he displayed in his first campaign. Tips: 3 4 5 8 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN STIRLING (3) to win. Market Market
