Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 2, 2024July 2, 2024 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 FRISKY STYX (1) returns and has shown a lot of promise in his past preparation. He has trialled up well and has the draw and speed to lead and get the job done here. RAKERO RAIDER (2) is racing consistently and with no back line he looks a wonderful place chance. HENGHENG (6) has been a slow burn this preparation, but he is starting to stoke up nicely with some solid performances, he can do the work and stick on well. TORREVEAN AMY (3) should get a soft run and represents a novelty chance. Tips: 1 2 6 3 Suggested Bet: HENGHENG (6) to place. Race 2 CANDY APPLE (2) was superb on return, burnt the candle at both ends and finished the race off well. Should be able to work to the top here and if she took no harm from the return run, I think she will be winning. TORREVEAN PINKY (1) looks a good place chance from the ace draw. JUST ALL STYLE (10) can hug the rails and has shown me enough to suggest she can run into the placings. Gets tricky for a lot of these others because it appears to be a pegs dominated race. SYNOCPATION (7) looks to be improving and can run on well. Tips: 2 1 10 7 Suggested Bet: CANDY APPLE (2) to win. Race 3 MAKE IT QUICK (10) has got the perfect draw to show his best, he will be close to the speed and with normal racing luck this looks very dangerous. IL BANDITO (1) was solid on WA debut, rises up to the longer trip which is of concern to me here. MY LITTLE BIG MAN (11) has good closing speed and should be respected in this grade. JOHNNY LOMBO (5) and BEYOND BLING (6) are both capable of featuring but tricky draws. Tips: 10 1 11 6 Suggested Bet: MAKE IT QUICK (10) each way. Race 4 QUINTON (1) was a very solid run in blistering time at Northam last time out, looks well placed from the draw and extremely hard to beat here. DARK EYES (4) likely to be forward at the start and be close enough to run into the money, off the back of his Friday night victory. LUKE ATTACK (10) beautifully drawn, had a good tactical battle with GOTA GOOD WARHOL (11) two starts ago to gain placing supremacy, they could battle it out again and both look good novelty players. MAJOR CORRIDA (5) has the top speed to negate his awkward draw late. Tips: 1 11 4 10 Suggested Bet: GOTA GOOD WARHOL (11) to place. Race 5 Open race here. MAKE YOUR MARK (1) has the draw and class to play a real part in this race, she is not one to win out of turn but creates a lot of interest in this race. SEAGRASS (11) has a tricky draw to overcome but has been racing consistently. CHAMBRAY (12) looks better suited here and in this grade can be driven more aggressively. MISS SHAHJA (2) has shown ability and should be kept safe. Plenty of chances in this race, quite tricky. Tips: 1 12 11 2 Suggested Bet: MAKE YOUR MARK (1) to win. Race 6 TRITTRITTBANGBANG (1) has the good draw to lead here and has been racing soundly enough to be a winning chance. YOUR GRACE (2) has come back well but he isn’t a horse who can do much work in his races so will be relying on some luck. DWAYNE (10) has drawn to get a perfect run and is an each way chance in this the old boy. THE LIGHTNING STRIKE (11) can do work in his races and although he isn’t at his best I am expecting him to run a much better race here. Tips: 10 11 1 2 Suggested Bet: DWAYNE (10) each way. Race 7 BLAZE COOPS (3) creates interest in this, she has the speed to lead and although she isn’t at her best, she can spear to the top and run a much better race dictating. MAKE IT HAPPEN (4) trialled really well and should be respected first up for the new stable. LITTLE BITOF FUN (5) is racing well and could get the run of the race, his form is better than numerically suggested. MEDIEVAL MAN (8) can improve further second up from a break. FIREROCKFIREROLL (7) backing up off a win on Friday but this looks a bit tricky. Tips: 5 3 4 8 Suggested Bet: LITTLE BITOF FUN (5) each way. Race 8 MANDOWN (8) looks a reasonable type and is coming off the back of a solid trial at Byford, should go very close. ROCKABILITY (5) has got good early speed and could get into a good position and looks the only/main danger. ROAD STAR (9) poorly drawn on return but has plenty of ability, keep him safe. VISITING HOURS (1) ideally drawn for novelty value once again. Tips: 8 5 1 9 Suggested Bet: ROCKABILITY (5) to place. Race 9 LOUIE VEE (5) was very good in a recent trial and his start performance before going to the paddock was sensational, he looks incredibly hard to beat on return. THE BETTOR SIDE (7) won the sales classic back in March and returns off the back of no trial and a poor draw, could be vulnerable first up. SAVE ME (2) looks better suited from the draw, should run well. MYSTA MOON WALKER (3) is a talent in his own right and should not be forgotten in a strong 2yo race. Tips: 5 3 2 7 Suggested Bet: LOUIE VEE (5) to win. Race 10 BLACKROCK (4) has been very impressive since returning and looks to charge through his grades on his performances shown so far. COVERNOTE (6) looks the main danger, he has continued to improve through the preparation and appears rather versatile. ITS JUSTA SHOTAWAY (7) is a nice type who made up a heap of ground last start and although unplaced he gave a guide to how well he is going, keep safe here. SONIC CHIP (1) can improve from the draw and UNLUCKY (2) needs to improve off the back of two plain efforts from a horse of her quality. Tips: 4 6 7 1 Suggested Bet: BLACKROCK (4) to win.
