Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on May 16, 2024May 16, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FOUR SEAS and MATSOKA are both 2 year olds who take on the older horses here in a 5 horse field. FOUR SEAS has the race experience from last Wednesday at Ascot and in review the fence was the worst spot to be at the meeting. Drops 4kg on that and should go well. MATSOKA has won two of his four barrier trials and has looked good in doing so. Big danger. Think the 2yos might have more upside than the others. FLICK THE SWITCH has run placings at each of three runs this time in. MOVING ON is a long time maiden who can do things wrong yet still a winning chance. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – FOUR SEAS WIN RACE 2 GALAXY AFFAIR is another of these well placed country horses by the Ben & Dan Pearce yard. They take horses like Galaxy Affair / Budgerigar / Birds The Word / Defending who are lower grade Saturday types to c70+ races and reap the rewards. His last two runs at Geraldton have been strong and expect that Rosie Mahony will look to take him to the front or the breeze at worst. Hard to beat again. STAR IN TIME has been a model of consistency throughout the campaign and can take a sit on the speed pair from her ideal draw. LITTLE SILVER and CATCH THESE HANDS are both really well suited dropping back into country racing. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – GALAXY AFFAIR WIN RACE 3 KAMAKAZI SHOOTER was crunched in betting last start in a race that contained Sirius Storm. Seemed a bizarre market move but the punters were nearly spot on because he made the favourite really stretch his neck. This is easier, he can roll to the top and he gets another great chance to break through and pinch one. LE GRAND JEU has been in good form all preparation and shouldn’t be a maiden too much longer. THE MIGHTY BUTCH tries hard but continues to find one or two better than him. DESERT EDGE will appreciate an easier race. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – KAMAKAZI SHOOTER WIN RACE 4 URBAN WARRIOR, ELITE JEWEL and PHENCE SITTER met last start in a C2 1100 and this time around it’s URBAN WARRIOR who meets PHENCE SITTER 1kg better for beating her and ELITE JEWEL 2kg better for beating her. With the positive weight swings and the way he’s going it’s hard not to be team URBAN WARRIOR to go back to back. PHENCE SITTER should come on fitness wise and gets a senior rider. ELITE JEWEL was a big improver in that event. PENNED is better than what he showed fresh. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – URBAN WARRIOR WIN RACE 5 HEEZA BEAU finished third to How Pretty and Safe Rappa and then split impressive 3 year old Flying South and subsequent winner Urban Warrior. Looks the right form, should be peaking fourth-up from a spell and is drawn to get every favour from barrier 2. Think this is his best chance yet to win another race. SAFE RAPPA beat him home in the How Pretty race so must be respected. GOOD SONG has been in consistent form all preparation. SONG CYCLE finds a new home and can be ridden positively from the draw. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – HEEZA BEAU WIN RACE 6 BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE has been a great acquisition for Sam Faithfull’s team. Consistent type of mare who gives 110% and can be competitive anywhere between 1400 and 1900m. Dropped back in distance last start and didn’t seem to appreciate it – as well as the fact she settled a mile off them from a wide draw. Meets Double Thumbs Up 2kg better for a half length defeat when they met on 11 April. Can turn the tables. DOUBLE THUMBS UP is the class runner and can carry the weight. Beat her before and can beat her again. Logical danger. YES OF COURSE can roll to the top and be in front for a long way. MAGNABURMA rarely runs a bad race and maps a treat. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,5 7,8 1 1,4,5,6 Market Market
