Runner by Runner: WA Pacing Cup Posted on November 8, 2023November 8, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper 1. Loyalist Trainer: Joe Connolly Driver: Seaton Grima Raced in the Nullabor here earlier in the year but hasn’t been at his best since returning to the east coast. He didn’t flatter at his return to WA when 11th to Diego here a fortnight ago but he has come up with the pole draw and could be a big improver. 2. Jumpingjackmac Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Stuart McDonald Led throughout to win the James Brennan Cup two starts back and has finished just behind the placegetters in his other recent efforts when racing with a sit. He is likely to contest the early lead and will give a great sight if he can take up that role or if he gets a nice sit close to the speed. 3. Diego Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Maddison Brown Reigning WA Pacing Cup winner who excels as a frontrunner but is a capable sit-sprinter if the race is run to suit. He looked sharp when leading throughout to win the JP Stratton Cup at his last start and is a definite winning chance. 4. Magnificent Storm Trainer: Ray Williams Driver: Aiden De Campo Disappointed in a Queensland winter campaign and his lead up to this race looked rush but he impressed with a first-up 2nd to Diego when starting from a wide draw and then was a comfortable all-the-way winner here last week and appeals as the one to beat. 5. Minstrel Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Mitchell Miller Led throughout to win here three starts back but he has struggled in this company of late when he can’t find the front and he looks in for a tough run in transit from this draw tonight. 6. Valentines Brook Trainer: Jocelyn Young Driver: Kyle Symington Up and comer who has been placed in 20 of his past 25 starts and looks capable of competing in this company but the awkward draw means that he will be one of the outsiders tonight and will need plenty of luck. 7. Tenzing Bromac Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Dylan Egerton-Green Highly promising 5YO who has worked hard and been placed in his last two starts against similar line-ups and can’t be overlooked but the wide barrier makes it tough when his main rivals have drawn nicely. 8. Himself Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Chris Lewis Last year’s Golden Nugget winner who was a close-up 4th in the JP Stratton Cup but his prospects have been seriously dented by the wide draw and he is likely to start at big odds. 9. Mighty Ronaldo Trainer: Justice Prentice Driver: Emily Suvaljko Reigning Fremantle Cup winner who excels in the role of sniper and he will have to be driven in that manner from this draw. He has an electrifying turn of foot when held up for one run but will need the race run to suit to bring him into contention. 10. Prince Of Pleasure Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Gary Hall Jnr Gets a lovely draw for his racing style and looks a great each way chance. His recent form is very solid and if he sees daylight at the right time then he will be charging to the line at good each way odds. 11. Steel The Show Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Deni Roberts Has raced his way through the classes but has had no luck in his last two starts. Deni Roberts has chosen him over his three stablemates and he is drawn to get a lovely from his trailing draw and will be finishing strongly. 12. Wildwest Trainer: Gary Hall Snr Driver: Callan Suvaljko Always needs a lot of luck in this company and he is likely to head to the pegs and hope for a few errors from other drivers for him to finish in the money. 13. Patronus Star (1st Emg) Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Can be a dangerous sit-sprinter who hasn’t been at his best this time in but could surprise if he gained a start from a favorable barrier. 14. Galactic Star (2nd Emg) Trainer: Greg & Skye Bond Driver: Oldstager who is still racing well but he is unlikely to figure in the finish unless he was gifted the pole draw. SELECTION: MAGNIFICENT STORM Has looked back to his best at his two starts this time and gets the barrier that gives him options in the early stages. He will be extremely hard to beat if he finds the front but is also capable of winning if he gets cover. Market Market
