Scott Embry’s Thursday York Preview Posted on October 10, 2023October 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RELIABLE QUEEN kicks off what looks a big provincial Thursday for Peters Investments and Michael Grantham/Takahide Ikenushi. Comes back to a maiden handicap from a C1 and with God’s Garden going close on Sunday in a C3 that form is well and truly franked. SHAKERATO will keep coming and Troy Turner is very good at putting them into the race in these staying maidens. HEY GEE GEE was a big improver last start. RUBICK DELIGHT races like she’ll get ground. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – RELIABLE QUEEN WIN RACE 2 ARCADIA JEWEL resumed at the Toodyay at Belmont meeting when winning a very weak 52+ 1650. The first 1000 was run 28L slower than average and they turned it into a sit and sprint to suit a mare like her with a turn of acceleration. Immediately out to 1920m but stays in the same grade and only rises 1.5kg with Pike staying on. Just needs to get herself off the fence when they start making their moves down the hill. MISS INTENTION was a big winner this track/distance two starts ago. Her racing pattern is York appropriate. SMOKING BARREL is always a chance at this level. MY FAIR BALENTINE is going along alright. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA JEWEL WIN RACE 3 ARCADIA KNIGHT finished second to undefeated filly Twain’s Angel on debut and then has run second to My Affliction and third behind Saulok and In Good Order. They’re great form references for a maiden handicap at York on a Thursday and with Pike sticking and only 59kg on his back he should be very hard to hold out. No star but these races are weak. INFLUENCING comes through the same race and was a few lengths behind Arcadia Knight but still looms the obvious danger on paper. MY LOVELY PET got around York well 25 days ago. CHAMP LA DANE an improver after no luck fresh. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA KNIGHT WIN RACE 4 TRIGGER FINGER is a long time maiden who is on one of his final chances. He was truckloaded in betting last start and did everything possible wrong. Sent back to trials, back to York, one more chance for him. BEST PRESENT has had a number of trials over a few different preparations. Was a remarkable drifter at Geraldton on debut back in December 2022. Drawn to get the run she needs. IMA WILD GIRL has shown more than enough ability to win a lowly maiden handicap. BAD BOY BU was great last start behind Tycoon Harry. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRIGGER FINGER WIN RACE 5 BUDGERIGAR looks really well suited in this. He’s been afforded a perfect m61 to c61 handicap transition and looks to be an improving type. Trialled really nicely under Alan Kennedy alongside Keshi Boom (undefeated at races Wednesday at Northam) and if she was to come out of that trial and win fresh it would make him look really good on paper. Finished between Split Jete and Desert Nymph last time he raced. MARINSKY BALLET is a York winner (was DQ’d afterwards so won’t make the racebook). She’s better than her fresh run. LONSDALEITE has shown 0 at the races since arriving in WA. Trials great, races poor. WATTO’S FURY next best. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – BUDGERIGAR WIN RACE 6 DIVINE JUDGEMENT was a big winner last start. It was only a maiden handicap so this is a decent step up in grade but he drops 1kg in weight and showed that he handles the York circuit. Even race with plenty of winning chances and clashing form references. Should be nearly eachway the field? ROCK OF KAHA ran a ripper first-up in a 66+ and then didn’t fire a shot in a 60+ Graduation. Now into a c52+. KILLARNEY is still a maiden but has blinkers going on and Pike riding. Have to respect. SAMARIA can roll to the top and control the tempo. Big improver last start. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIVINE JUDGEMENT EACHWAY RACE 7 MISS FLIRTACIOUS is an interesting runner. We saw a similar bit of placement by the LK Fernie stable with Cocktail Party 25 days ago and while unsuccessful it’s worth remember that she was $4.40 into $1.80 and then won effortlessly at her next outing so there was definitely something there. This filly won a recent 1000m Belmont trial by over 2L and looked good in doing so. LATE VINTAGE should be a big improver at this level and ridden for speed. DREAM BROOK may just need a bit further. MASTER BUDDHA tries hard. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS FLIRTACIOUS WIN RACE 8 SPECTACULAR PARK rounds out the Peters Investments York Roadshow on debut in a 46+ 1300 with 60kg. Hard to not be impressed with the recent trial performance when travelling up strongly behind Speak To Me (talented maiden) and working to the line nicely even when eased down in the final strides. Gives the impression that 1300m is an ideal starting point and this is a not a deep race or field. ACT INNOCENT looms as the danger. Her effort two back at York behind subsequent winner Albert was good enough. FRIES WITH THAT may elect to roll to the top and control the speed. HUXTON CREEPER a mad one for novelty inclusion coming off the dirt. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – SPECTACULAR PARK WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,5 1,2,3,4,5,6 1,7 2,5,9,10 Market Market
