Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on August 22, 2023August 22, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 FANG IT ran ok in a leader dominated race on debut and his stablemate Masonry came through that race to win last week. FUTURE MONARCH hit the line strongly first up and will strip fitter. FAVOURITE CHILD stuck on well on debut in what is shaping to be quite a strong maiden. KATDEEL brings some consistent Qld form and should be suited at this trip first up. Selections: 12,8,7,4 Suggested Bet: Fang It to win Race 2 PONTIPINES chased well behind the stablemate last time, he should be suited stepping up to 1300m and has jumped out nicely between runs. SAMURAI charged late to just miss on debut in NZ and has jumped out well for the new stable. DELIVERING covered ground first up and stuck on bravely under the circumstances. AUTUMN ANGEL ran well on debut in a strong maiden and has jumped out nicely to resume. Selections: 4,6,1,8 Suggested Bet: Pontipines each way Race 3 POISON CHALICE overcame significant difficulties to win first up and looks to have plenty of upside. BRAZEN KINGDOM won impressively first up and then produced one of the runs of the day in defeat at his next start. COLOMBE D’OR has been kept up to the mark with a solid jumpout since her first up win. FROM PANTHERLAND ran well in a BM70 last start. Selections: 8,7,5,6 Suggested Bet: Poison Chalice to win Race 4 VERSILIA has been kept fresh and jumped out in good style between runs. ELECTRIC IMPULSE is building a handy record, she has also jumped out well recently and with any luck from the draw should be fighting out the finish. SIRIUS STATEMENT has been hitting the line strongly this prep and should appreciate 1400m. AWAPINI PRINCESS is going well for the stable and 1400m could be within her scope as a more mature galloper. Selections: 4,5,9,1 Suggested Bet: Versilia each way Race 5 VADABOY rode the speed and battled on well last start. He’s been given a solid grounding for 2400m and Craig Williams sticking is a plus. BARMAH AL is hard fit and racing in great form. Any rain would be a bonus for WANJIRU, who is also hard fit and racing well. FIRE GLO TOO proved too strong for Vadaboy last time but pays a weight penalty and the step up to 2400m is unchartered territory. Selections: 7,9,8,1 Suggested Bet: Vadaboy each way Race 6 HARD SQUEEZE races well here and the drop back to 2100m looks suitable. CRIMSON LIGHT chased well last start, expecting the previous race to frank that form line. FEARENTLESS could be a big improver getting her toe in the gorund. LA SPEZIA, PLUCKY PIROUETTE, LOOK SHARPISH and DAMNED have claims. Selections: 2,5,6,8 Suggested Bet: Hard Squeeze each way Race 7 The gelded BEWS impressed winning first up and looks to be on his way to better races. The form through his last start held up well at Cranbourne on Sunday. SOKANON is an intriguing runner, his best NZ form is over more ground but he has jumped out well for the new stable. WATADEEL is another that may appreciate more ground but has been jumping out in good style. JUST JAKE had excuses last start and should make his own luck. Selections: 9,6,7,5 Suggested Bet: Bews to win Race 8 KIMBERELY PEARL didn’t have the best of luck last start and is drawn to advantage here. Her stablemate BOLDINHO, has trialled impressively since his last start and looks a strong danger with any luck from the draw. FLYCATCHER hit the line strongly to win on debut and has been kept up to the mark with a solid jumpout between runs. RUSSIAN SUMMER didn’t get any clear running in the home straight last start but has the wide draw to overcome. Selections: 8,2,6,12 Suggested Bet: Kimberley Pearl each way Market Market
