Deane Lester’s Moonee Valley Best Bets Posted on December 23, 2022December 23, 2022 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.1 BUBBLY LASS Talented mare BUBBLY LASS is working up to another win and looks ideally placed when she contests the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap (1500m). The daughter of More Than Ready comes off a gallant second behind BELLINI MISS over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley on December 2 and will appreciate the slightly shorter distance of this race. She should make her own luck from a good draw and gets the benefit of apprentice rider Matthew Cartwright’s 1.5kg allowance. It’s an even race, however BUBBLY LASS is ideally placed to record her fourth career win and represents the best bet of the day. RACE 6 NO.5 LET’S SEA The Benchmark 64 Handicap (2040m) looks a very even contest with a host of chances, however LET’S SEA looks an improver and makes appeal at each way odds. The five year old has been patiently guided by the Maher/ Eustace stable with just 8 starts under his belt but showed that he is developing a racehorse with a tough win over 1600 metres at Ararat on November 29. He looks ready for a step up in distance and appears drawn to get a cheap run. It’s not a hard race for an emerging talent to win and LET’S SEA has the ideal profile to run well in this race. RACE 7 NO.5 RIVERPLATE RIVERPLATE has returned to racing as a gelding this campaign which has seen him show a renewed enthusiasm for the contest and looks the one to beat again when he runs in the Benchmark Handicap (1600m). The four year old has won both outings this campaign, firstly in maiden grade over 1400 metres at Sandown Lakeside on November 16 before a tough win in Class 1 grade over 1500 metres at Sandown Hillside on December 7. Whilst he has been unplaced at three runs over 1600 metres, they have all been at stakes level and he hasn’t been disgraced in any of those runs. He is likely to be one of the shortest priced favourites on the Valley card but he looks a good favourite and clearly the one to beat. Market Market
