Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 17, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DENZOE should roll straight to the top and finds one of her most winnable races in her career. Hard to get overly enthused about a double figure start maiden but Lisa Staples should find the front with relative ease and from there she’s rock hard fit and Ash Maley takes them to Geraldton to win. 3.5L off Alaskalot, 2.5L off Another Chino and Ortabearockstar reads up well enough. SCARLET AT TARA went around 80-1 first-up and ran out of her skin. If she can reproduce the effort she looms as the danger. JUST A LIL FAITH chased hard behind Berry Berry Good and Schnoots. Straight up to a mile is an ask. TOWNSVILLE ran his best race yet most recently. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – DENZOE WIN RACE 2 EDMOND was a huge win last start. Had to carry 62kg, got back, cut the corner but was then stopped in his tracks and forced to pick up without any momentum and somehow nabbed Vanman on the post. Troy Turner has elected to stick with him over Sans Le Sou and we’ll follow him in with that lead. Hard to fault what he’s done in WA since arriving last season. SANS LE SOU went under at the shorts last start but in hindsight the race simply wasn’t run to suit her at all. Don’t think there’s much at all between the stablemates and they can fight it out. MINUS LOOKS has been racing well and a senior rider goes on. BOMBAY STYLE is back to somewhere near his best and looks ready. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – EDMOND WIN RACE 3 LUCKEE FLORAN was a great trial behind Ask An Angel on 27 November and then at his race day debut was skittled at the 800 and almost knocked completely out of the race. Super effort to pick himself up and still run third. Has the tactical speed to hold a position in running and without any interference he should go well. SCHNOOTS was unable to reel in Berry Berry Good last start but the money trail suggested she won’t be a maiden for long. Can bounce straight on the lead here from a far more favourable alley. BOLD PROPHET was a great run in replay. Another tricky gate. WASN’T ME an improver at odds. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – LUCKEE FLORAN WIN RACE 4 WORLD RULER ran second to Royal Gap two starts ago in a Heat of the Regional Championship Final and then was only 3.5L off Mr Causeway and subsequent winner Kohli in the Final on Winterbottom Stakes Day. Back to Geraldton, back into a C2 and drawn a gate to stalk the speed. Nice race for him. ORISTANO was a big improver first-up to second-up. Dropped back into this C2 grade, ran into a sharp filly in Dream To Me and was the only other runner in the race to make any noticeable impression late in the race. Back to 1100 a query but there’s a stack of speed in this which should suit. ASK AN ANGEL was a great trial and was a different animal last preparation. HELL RAIDER can be hit and miss but on his day he has a level of ability. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – WORLD RULER WIN RACE 5 ALBERT went out hard and fast last start under Lisa Staples. Ran the 1200m almost 3L faster than C2 average and was duly cut down in the home straight. Steps out to 1400m, drops 1kg in weight after the claim and drops back into a C1. Likely to be left alone out in front and can give cheek. In an open and even race he’s one of many live chances. ST JOHN showed ability with Dion Luciani and was an astute purchase for country racing. Measures up from the ideal draw. BLUE CHEYENNE broke his maiden in style. YES MISS JANE is about as consistent as they come. She’ll run her typically honest race. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALBERT WIN RACE 6 SUN POWER ran second to Sure No Something in this grade two starts ago and then second to Corn Cob last start in a 70+ when backed off the map. Provided he runs out a strong 1400m (broke his maiden at Pinjarra at a mile) he should be hard to run down if Cassey Martinan can bounce him out of the machine and take him to the top. Great race for him on paper. SIGNIFICANT HERO is always there abouts and from the better draw can settle a pair of two closer in the run. DESIGNATED DRINKER was labelled in betting and never looked like being beaten in the run. CHIX CHATTER will concede them a big head start. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – SUN POWER WIN RACE 7 ARABIAN RICHES looks to have found his race. Second to Royal Gap three starts ago, third behind Kazkazi and subsequent winner Grace Du Roi two starts ago and then second behind Edmond subsequent winner last start. He’s running big races behind horses who are going on to frank the form and he won’t get a better chance than this from the inside draw. Has been a long, long time between drinks but he deserves one. Now or never. BILLY JACK has returned to racing well but the barrier hurts. He’ll need a three deep line to build for him. AL MAHALO was a better run last start. Keep safe at odds. AURMAN ZOU is another highly consistent type from the yard of Rhona Macphilomey, he’ll be in the finish. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – ARABIAN RICHES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 1,2,3,4,5,8 1,6,10 1,5 Market Market
