Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 6, 2022December 6, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SCHNOOTS was wide throughout in the Estimator/Military Power 1000m scamper first-up and was beaten a margin (understandably) and then was well backed at odds second-up when William Pike went on ($31 into $11) and finished fourth behind Defiant Diorite (races Wedenesday), Crystals Dream and subsequent winner Magnalee. To a country maiden and gets her chance. JUSTA LIL FAITH joins Julia Martin and gains the services of leading Gero rider Troy Turner. Looks the danger from the inside. REGAL SUN ran well when last seen, but that was also 588 days ago in April 2021. BERRY BERRY GOOD heads to WA and has speed. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SCHNOOTS WIN RACE 2 AMERICAN AGENT was backed from $26 into $4.60 two starts ago when finishing second to Brisance. Last start was drawn barrier 13 of 13 and had to do a fair bit of work throughout running and was only gunned down in the shadows by Paint My Portrait. Drawn barrier 1 here and looks the one. LUCKEE FLORAN was a nice trial behind Ask An Angel and can follow American Agent’s every move. WOJTEK has been given a freshen and comes back in trip. LEAD GUITAR has always promised to win one. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN AGENT WIN RACE 3 DUN WITH THE BLUES was a nice trial under Alan Kennedy. Was dictated inwards across heels for the majority of the home straight at Lark Hill and yet still made solid ground under repeated redirection. Finished second on debut at Mt Barker and the way she hit the line suggests that the 1400m will be even more suitable. CYCLONE PIA has returned to racing well but the barrier draw doesn’t make things any easier. WILD SCENES is finishing midfield but all the runs have had merit. THE KOOLMINT KID may still be looking for further. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – DUN WITH THE BLUES WIN RACE 4 SLY AS A FOX found the top last start and was fair when running fourth at a mile behind Allaboutthecraic (previously second to subsequent winner Almaher Man), Risky Lyrics and Colour Me Quick. Drops 2.5kg after the claim of Brayden Gaerth and drops back to 1400m. Another nice race for him. COLOUR ME QUICK meets him 2kg worse but did run past him late last start. Not much between them ability wise. ROME can be hit and miss but on his day he’s got a decent turn of acceleration for this grade. MYSTERY MAN has been a frustrating horse to follow since arriving in the region. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SLY AS A FOX WIN RACE 5 PEPPIJACK was a big improver first-up to second-up. This is a nice race for him and with the likely favourite Edmond drawn the outside with 62kg he gets a great chance to pinch another race. Was only beaten 3L by Vitalize, Ninetyone Dwyer and Pennys Afield and should be peaking third-up. EDMOND is still caught between 58+ and 70+ grade. Won a 58+ 1400 last with 50kg and now has to carry 62kg from an outside gate at a mile. With the 70+ race being over 1200m it leaves Gordon Spowart with little option but to race him with the weight. ALLABOUTTHECRAIC deserved her win last start. Had been knocking on the door and now drops 3.5kg and gets a 5.5kg pull on Edmond. BILLY JACK returned to the grass and ran well fresh. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – PEPPIJACK EACHWAY RACE 6 UNI QUEEN comes up into 64+ company for the first time dropping down to the mimimum and again tests the waters at 1900m. Was only beaten 3L in the Natasha Stakes (2200) behind Constant Dreaming and Feels Danish and the way she’s been racing recently gives the impression that the distance will suit. MINUS LOOKS is flying and has won his last two. Can cross to the top and control again. HONORFIC has been screaming out for this trip and the booking of Troy Turner catches the attention. MYCROFT an improver into a far more suitable race. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – UNI QUEEN WIN RACE 7 DREAM TO ME isn’t a very big mare but she’s very quick and she’s got a motor. 60kg will surely be on her weight carrying limit but the fact she stays in a Class 2 means that she should be too strong and too sharp for them late. Looking for her to find the fence and if she does she should continue on her merry way. SILVER BO has been savaging the line this preparation. Looks the logical danger. PAINT MY PORTRAIT really got going late to break his maiden in style. YES MISS JANE is ultra consistent. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – DREAM TO ME WIN RACE 8 CORN COB now cops 63kg in the top grade of country racing. It’s a harsh reality but he’ll have to head to Perth sooner rather than later. Brave effort in the Batavia Sprint when finishing second behind False Statement and from the draw Cassey Martinan should give him every opportunity to win another race in the Midwest before heading to the metro area. JUPITER RISING has been in form all preparation. The wider gate means he’ll concede them a decent head start. BOMBAY STYLE was much better most recently. Can come to hand quickly. SUN POWER is always hard to run down when he finds the top and he drops 5kg on his most recent effort. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN RACE 9 ELIMINATE was luckless at her return to racing when finding traffic on multiple occasions. Things didn’t go much better for her in the Regional Final at Ascot on Winterbottom Day but she still hit the line well enough to suggest that third-up back to Geraldton she would take some beating. SURE NO SOMETHING is three from three since being purchased for $3750. Was a $300,000 yearling!. Bargain buying at its very best. No reason why he can’t win again. SIGNIFICANT HERO is suited in this grade and well weighted after the claim. ROYAL GAP is a barrier horse and the draw is perfect. Could be a big day for Ash Maley. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – ELIMINATE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,5,10 1,5 1,2,4,5,6,7 1,5,6,8,9 Market Market
