Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on November 8, 2022November 8, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RULER ROCKET has looked very quick at trials. Bruce Watkins has swapped between blinkers and ear muffs at the trials and for race day he has opted to use the blinkers. Think that Troy Turner will find the front with relative ease and from there he can control the early speed and kick into the corner. Looks hard to run down over the short course. TRIONFANTE gets a very similar run to her debut when shooting up the cutaway to victory with a short, sharp burst of speed. SWIM THROUGH returns to midweek grade and has blinkers on first time. GREY MISTRESS can’t buy a barrier or a map. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – RULER ROCKET WIN RACE 2 LEXINGTON CITY is well placed by Simon Miller coming back into a C3 and coming back to 1000m. Blinkers come off in an attempt to get him to settle in the middle stages. Great use of the claim for noted front running apprentice Holly Watson and think he’ll kick into the corner and try to pinch it. GALAXY CAT looks the obvious danger on paper and if she can hold up leader’s back and use the cutaway, she’ll be a legitimate threat. Love the fact David Harrison has gone with Paul Harvey rather than claiming. SKY DUKE is racing below his best. LUCKY LANDING is honest and consistent. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – LEXINGTON CITY WIN RACE 3 ALASKALOT was the talk of the track after his wildly impressive debut run. The half brother to Railway Stakes favourite Alaskan God set tongues wagging when he burst through traffic late to snatch a fast finishing second to Kosta’s Crown. Steps up to 1400m and if he reproduces the same turn of acceleration will be mighty hard to hold out. Wonderful opportunity for Jess Valenti in town. ROCKON MOLLY draws the cutaway and if the leaders can take her into the top of the straight, she’s got a short, sharp sprint which is suited to cutaway racing. This is one of the more winnable races she has seen to date. DENZOE was good first-up and controls the speed. KING KAURI hit the line well on debut. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALASKALOT WIN RACE 4 MISSILE STORM went to a 1600m 3 year old 0MWLY last start when finishing a brave second to Sesswa. The third horse out of that race was Demolish who dropped into a 1400m C1 last Thursday and bolted in when backed from $2.60 into $1.70. Back to a maiden, back to 1400m, just the awkward draw to contend with. Note he is double accepted for Thursday at Belmont. FIELD OF BATTLE has a bad habit of missing the kick. Jumps and can win. Misses and it’s ugly (again). CATCH THESE HANDS finished off well at Northam. Clearly a work in progress. THE LUCKY CHIP comes from a strong form race behind Royal Elite and maps well. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – MISSILE STORM WIN RACE 5 NERO KING was never a hope after the first few races had been run at his return to racing. The races were being dominated by on speed runners and he was in a world of hurt with his natural pattern. Forgiving, forgetting and following up second-up. If they’re able to swoop down the centre on Wednesday he’s a big improver and a live chance. PRAY AGAIN has had excuses at almost every outing in his life. Does plenty wrong and seems to actively seek out traffic. No surprise to see him win, no surprise to see him throw it away. NEVER SOBER looks like he will roll to the top and control the race without much pressure. MOJO’S LUCK was an interesting replay watch fresh. Came hard when the race was over. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – NERO KING WIN RACE 6 TRULY INSPIRED looks like William Pike’s first winner back in Western Australia in the iconic Cerise & White of Peters Investments. Eye-catching first-up in a 60+ 1600m rattling home from last and then was solid second-up over 1800m when working to the line to finish fourth behind Ghobella, Bannana and Pray Again. Drops into a C1, draws ideally and looks the winner on paper. VEVINSKY is now third-up and reaching peak fitness. Might be the day where they ride him more positively and if so, he can be hard to run down when allowed to stride. IDLE STAR parks over the speed. WEIGHTMAN ran well at his WA debut. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRULY INSPIRED WIN RACE 7 NUNES is well placed by Tony Ward. Broke her maiden with a dominant on-speed performance and then was thrown in the deep end into the Burgess Queen Stakes when finishing only 5L off Laced Up Heels and Amelia’s Jewel. Drops back from a Listed Race into a C1 and carries only 53.5kg after the claim for Luke Campbell. Plenty of speed engaged and she should be within striking distance. KARALEE ROCKS looks a nice mare in the making. Has a turn of acceleration which should see her going through the grades. SAMARIA and THE COOLAKIN KING are likely to lock horns in a speed battle. Note Samaria also accepted Thursday. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – NUNES WIN RACE 8 HAMMARMILL was a tough watch first-up. Laqdar Ramoly spent the majority of the home straight searching for clear running and unfortunately for the loyal Hammarmill following those gaps just never appeared at any stage. Should be better suited out to 1200m and with clear galloping room she can make amends. Progressive mare. GINGER JONES makes his WA debut and is very well placed by new trainers Chris & Michael Gangemi. Likely to sit up over the speed and stay out of trouble. Danger. MICHELADA is going well and maps to get the right run. GUNMETAL GREY comes right back in grade. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – HAMMARMILL WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4 2,3 1,3,6,7,9,10,13 1,10 Market Market
