Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on October 28, 2022October 28, 2022 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 SANDPAPER covered ground first up prior to getting the right run to win last start. He should further improved up third up. TIJUANA has the Caulfield Guineas form line and maps for a soft run. That form line ties in THE FORTUNE TELLER and ELKINGTON ROAD, who have claims but awkward draws to overcome. PERFECT THOUGHT ran well behind Tijuana here on Anzac Day and should appreciate 1600m. PUNGO quickened nicely to win a much easier race last start. Selections: 2,11,1,6 Suggested Bet: Sandpaper each way Race 2 The track conditions could play a crucial role in this race. Any rain leading in to the meeting would advantage REALM OF FLOWERS, who ran well in the Metropolitan. SUREFIRE would probably prefer drier ground, but ran well in the Geelong Cup and soft ground should be ok. INTERPRETATION hasn’t quite lived up to expectations yet, but blinkers go back on and he may be ridden more aggressively. MAKRAM likes it here and is another to run well in the Geelong Cup. ALEGRON can improve back at Flemington. Selections: 7,8,10,1 Suggested Bet: Realm of Flowers each way Race 3 TRIPLE MISSILE was responsible for an outstanding first up effort after blowing the start, with a clean getaway he should stay in touch and will be strong late. GENERAL BEAU did enough first up and run well here. JAMEA brings some strong interstate form and will be strong late on the fresh side at this trip. GRAVINA is fit and in form. THE ASTOLOGIST likes it here and backs up after a wide run in the Manikato. Selections: 8,5,7,6 Suggested Bet: Triple Missile each way Race 4 PAVITRA battled on bravely after setting the tempo at this trip last start and the blinkers come off. She looks to be part of the speed again and will be better for the run at the distance. SO DAZZLING had excuses last start, stepping up to 2000m looks an ideal progression. JENNY JEROME and AS TIME GOES BY are both getting to this trip for the first time but give the impression it will suit them. MAKRANA had a tough last start and battled on ok under the circumstances. Selections: 2,3,1,8 Suggested Bet: Pavitra each way Race 5 TURAATH overcame difficulties to win last start when staying qt 1200m second up. She looks well placed stepping up to 1400m and maps for a good run. CROSSHAVEN ran well first up, he has won twice second up previously and races well here. The race passed OLD FLAME by at Caulfield and under the circumstances he ran well. He should get every chance from a favourable draw. JIMMY THE BEAR is a ripper, he can’t be improving, but his three year old form was solid and he’s measured up well as a four year old. SINAWANN is testing the patience but has claims. Selections: 7,5,8,11 Suggested Bet: Turaath each way Race 6 Terrific race. IN SECRET has been kept fresh for this after running well in the Golden Rose and all her runs to date have been of an extremely high standard. She was given a quiet time having a look at the straight course in a jumpout last week and looks hard to beat. BUENOS NOCHES has been terrific down the straight at his last two, you’d think 1200m would suit. ECONOMICS won well first up and jumped out nicely down the straight last week. COOLANGATTA is a last start Group 1 winner against older horses who won the Magic Millions at 1200m. If JAQUINOT has another run left in him this prep, then he’s right in it. Selections: 15,6,8,14 Suggested Bet: In Secret to win Race 7 BERKELEY SQUARE won the Vase in good style and Moonee Valley last week and gives every impression he will cope with the 2500m trip. He has shown tactical versatility which should give Craig Williams a variety of option. He is unbeaten at Flemington and looks the one to beat. MR MAESTRO has also been winning in good style, he may have to go back from the draw but will be strong late. SHARP ‘N’ SMART is a last start Group 1 winner who has proven to be tough and resilient, that will stand him in good stead backing up from that victory in Sydney last week. PERICLES is on a steep learning curve but his run behind Berkeley Square last start was full of merit. MURAMASA looks like he will appreciate this trip. Selections: 2,4,1,5 Suggested Bet: Berkeley Square to win Race 8 LA CRIQUE is building an impressive record in New Zealand and her last start Group 1 victory was totally dominant, defeating a subsequent Group 1 winner. Obviously tackling a variety of different from lines here, but kept fresh for the 1600m trip looks the horse to beat. SHE’S LICKETYSPLIT was brave on the heavy track last start, she looks the right sort of three year old filly to run well here. NIMALEE is racing well and proven at this level. YEARNING has been progressing well this prep and stepping up to 1600m suits. Selections: 14,16,2,12 Suggested Bet: La Crique to win Race 9 ASFOORA was presented with an easy lead last start, but she was able to capitalise and win impressively. She hasn’t raced down the straight, but she’s capable of making her own luck and looks hard to beat again. ISOTOPE has jumped out well between runs and looks well weighted under the conditions of the race. SHALSTAR is building an impressive record and may be drawn the right part of the track, that form obviously ties in with A VERY FINE RED. Selections: 2,10,17,9 Suggested Bet: Asfoora to win Market Market
