Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on September 30, 2022September 30, 2022 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.7 VISINARI Progressive sprinter VISINARI looks well placed to make a winning return when he contests the Paris Lane Stakes (1400m). The five year old won three of his five starts last campaign and has form through Group One placegetter TUVALU. He has trialled well leading into this race, gets the services of elite rider Jamie Kah and seems to have more upside than his rivals. Whilst he will start a short priced favourite, VISINARI represents the best bet of the day. RACE 4 NO.8 EXCELIDA EXCELIDA will be fitter for one run this campaign and appears well suited to make sharp improvement when she tackles the Rose Of Kingston Stakes (1400m). The Ben and JD Hayes trained mare was unsuited on a wet track when finishing a solid first-up 5th behind ZAPATEO in the How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on September 17. She will appreciate a step up in distance on drier ground and looks drawn for a good run. She races well at Flemington and appeals as a great each way value chance. RACE 6 NO.10 INTERPRETATION There’s a spot in the Melbourne Cup on the line when the field runs in the Bart Cummings (2510m) with the winner gaining an automatic start in the race that stops a nation. The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable won this race with GRAND PROMENADE last year and the imported stayer INTERPRETATION is poised to make it back to back wins in this race for the stable. The five year old covered ground and wasn’t suited by a soft track when finishing 5th behind HIGH EMOCEAN over 2500 metres at Flemington on September 10. He will be fitter for that run, drops to 54kg and gets the services of champion rider Craig Williams; this looks his race to assert himself as a Melbourne Cup contender. Market Market
