Scott Embry’s Sunday Mount Barker Preview Posted on January 21, 2022January 21, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LUVACHAT is an intriguing galloper on debut. Looked to have raw ability at trials and looks a massive lump of an animal from the trial replays. The trial win at Belmont in May was good, the trial win at Lark Hill in May was even better. Not sure what to make of him but going to side his way on speculation. SPECIAL ROYALE is a half sister to Special Reward and has shown ability at the trials. Had a lot of education over a number of mini preparations and is sure to have admirers on debut as well. DEE RODMAN can be forgiven for the last start Esperance flop. LAST TRADE LADY was solid in her most recent trial and Sam Faithfull is flying. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – LUVACHAT WIN RACE 2 SNEAKY FOX is still very new and very green. Liked all of his trials and thought he was strong enough on debut to suggest that into a weaker maiden down at Mt Barker and with Brad Rawiller taking over riding duties that he could improve sufficiently to score. Only 3L off Garage Days and with Anna’s Boy a notable early scratching the race opens right up. HOLE IN ONE has finished third at both career outings to date. Most recent third behind O’Laras Prince and Paddy’s Art was clearly an improved effort too. CURRIMUNDI finished second in a recent Lark Hill trial. Keep safe on debut. TAKE ME THERE has been racing consistently. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY FOX WIN RACE 3 HOIST THE COLOURS is an emerging staying type. Went from a lowly maiden handicap at Narrogin into a 54+ (C3 equivalent) and was simply too tough late for in form mare Bandalera Miss and relatively well thought of 4 year old Free Solo. This is a drop in grade into a 50+ C2 and he should take up a forward position and just keep kicking. Takes real running down. REBEL MAN is racing like he will need every inch of the trip. Like part owner Cameron Newbold isn’t blessed with a turn of foot. Needs to use that big frame and build momentum. CATCHYA CATCHYA hasn’t had much luck so far this preparation. MOONLIGHT EXPRESS showed something last start. Watch at odds. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – HOIST THE COLOURS WIN RACE 4 CHICLETT is going through the country grades nicely and is again well placed by Team Pearce. Steps out to the 1850 and is definitely bred to get the trip. Brad Rawiller picks up the ride and from the ideal barrier should have the mare tracking up midfield with cover. Going well and holding form. OFF WEGO was well backed last start and ran into Pearce mare Speedbird. Couldn’t quite match motors with her in the concluding stages but showed he is back to somewhere near his best. EURASIA is a big beneficiary of the claiming apprentices and SJ Wolfe placement at the moment. Hard to beat again. LOSING TICKET is a track/distance specialist. Loves Barker. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHICLETT WIN RACE 5 SUPER EX is coming off an eye catching trial at Belmont Park where he hit the line full of running late under Tyla Becker. Blinkers go on and he has speed to burn so expect that he will get across from the sticky alley without burning too much petrol early. Winner with 60kg at Northam in track record time over 1300m and is a winner under Tyla Becker previously. Ticks a few boxes. CLASSIC MAGNUS is a model of consistency and thirving in the new stable. Maps a treat. STELLA DOOR is a jump and run horse. Coming back to 1000m should see him improve. CAN’T GET ENOUGH is an all or nothing speedster. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – SUPER EX WIN RACE 6 LET’SDEAL looks a class above rivals here. Was a back up the truck job on debut off a sizzling trial win when he opened $7 and jumped $1.75 with punters nationwide filling the boots. He dropped them at the top of the straight and won by 3.9L running away from them. Took a huge step from a Northam maiden into a 3 year old Plate when well commissioned in betting and finishing second behind undefeated Red Fifty Three. Recent trial was quiet and he should be too classy. Saturday horse. GINGER GREEN is a work in progress and still doing a lot wrong. Has ability there’s no doubt. SAASMIT can race on Sunday at Barker or Monday at Ascot. This is easier so you’d think LK Fernie goes this way. COUNT THE SESSIONS can always run a race fresh. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LET’SDEAL WIN RACE 7 RIVER RUBICON vs SHAKE BABY SHAKE is a great little match race on paper with both handy 3 year olds early in their careers. RIVER RUBICON is double nominated for Sunday at Barker and Monday at Ascot and regardless of where he goes he is worth keeping in mind. The C2 at Mt Barker is the easier assignment and the 1200m is more suitable than the 1100 at Ascot. Logic says they’ll likely go this way and he looms as the one to beat. Nice horse. SHAKE BABY SHAKE would be deep odds on if River Rubicon doesn’t start. Took a handy horse in Rockin’ Rupert to run her down at Belmont last start and leading at Barker makes her hard to run down. Big danger. ALEXIS OLYMPIA is racing well but finds it hard to win. HOOLAHOOPS was massive at her return to grass racing. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – RIVER RUBICON WIN RACE 8 THE GREAT ONE is in career best form and has proven that the tougher he has to do it, the better he goes. His win the Mandurah Cup can’t be underestimated after working hard throughout and still proving too strong in the concluding stages for a talented front runner like Big Screen. With Big Screen since running second to Billy Ain’t Silly it shows that the form is strong and while he’s drawn wide they’ll be going hard early. ZIEBELL is double nominated for Sunday Barker and Monday Ascot. Got absolutely no luck in the Fitzpatrick Plate and never gave it away. KIA ORA STAR is 2 from 2 undefeated since joining Roy Rogers and looks every chance of adding a Mt Barker Sprint to this CV. SCANDOLO stepped up in grade with success. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – THE GREAT ONE WIN RACE 9 LOKI has been kept fresh since his first-up assignment in a 70+ when finishing 5L off them. Pulled up with legitimate excuses and has since received treatment as well as heading back to trials. The bars on is a red flag but like the booking of Brad Rawiller. Capable type on his day. The market will probably tell the story. MEDELLIN deserved that win last start. Had been knocking on the door all campaign. Can go on with it now. LITTLE PUNGA is always a live chance in this grade. He has been a little ripper for connections and runs for the apprentices. STARAUTHORESS is starting to hit his straps as a 5 year old. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – LOKI WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2 2,4 1,2,3,4,7,8,13 1,2,3,4 Market Market
