Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on January 11, 2022January 11, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROCKIN’ RUPERT was so impressive at trials and then took it to race day on debut when scoring a strong win from the breeze. He then stepped straight from a midweek assignment into a Saturday race and ultimately was no match for He’s A Sizzler and Thomas Magnum. Drops back in grade, gains the services of W.Pike and in the small field looks the one to beat. ASTRAPE might just lob out the back and be saved for one late run. Clearly settled into Roy Rogers program brilliantly. SHAKE BABY SHAKE has been well found in each and every run to date. Either leads or box seats on the back of Ultimate Command. ULTIMATE COMMAND hasn’t seen a race this weak since she broke thorugh on debut as a 2 year old. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROCKIN’ RUPERT WIN RACE 2 VALENCY has been building and building and now looks to have found a winnable race. Finished off well on debut over 1000m at Ascot behind zippy filly Heavenly Waters before heading to a 1200m and doing her best late and through the line through traffic. Think the step up to 1400m is key to her winning chances and she gets her opportunity here. Just needs to stay out of trouble. RESTFUL transfers to Hayden Ballantyne and won her recent Lark Hill trial in style. Looks a big danger. PLATINUM LABEL was super fresh. Gave Troy Turner a nightmare of a ride and yet still finished off strongly. Only 1.5L off Border Force in what has turned into a winner producing maiden. CONTENTO BOY can roll to the top and control. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – VALENCY WIN RACE 3 OTHERONESON went around favourite on debut off the back of two highly impressive trials at Belmont Park. Looks a progressive type of 3 year old who will only get better with race experience. Did a bit wrong on debut and was pulling late ground off subsequent Albany C2 winner Halatorion in the run to the post. Drawn a little awkwardly but looks to have gears. KEEPER SWEET split Extra Secret and Sweet Admiration last start, that looks handy form for a maiden. NOVA SKY had nothing go right for her first-up. Copped it early from Safe Rest when she bucked. Copped it in the home straight when looking like she was going to make a run at them. RARE CASE also had no luck in the same race. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – OTHERONESON WIN RACE 4 KUTSANYA is a six year old in his first preparation. Finished third behind The Velvet Queen and Uni Queen on debut and then has run well in two Albany maidens since. Did a power of work two starts ago and then last time out was only run down late by Acting God when stepping from 1230 to 1600m. That should bring him forward for this and he looks a live chance in a wide open race. TIGER MOVE was given every chance by Shaun O’Donnell last start and went close to breaking through. Has been knocking on the door for a while. MR BRILLIANT never looked comfortable on debut. Was a different horse when sitting up on speed last start. RUBY NOIR ran a ripper on debut. Looks very green and very raw. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – KUTSANYA EACHWAY RACE 5 SNEAKY FOX has had three 1000m trials for claiming apprentice Maddy Cornick. Each and every trial was more than handy and with the senior rider on for his debut and the early scratching of the hardest horse to beat in Rulelee going to side with the debutante. Roy Rogers is flying and he looks to have natural ability. GARAGE DAYS reeled off a 33.92 last 600 fresh. Not many maidens can do that. Has been a tease over his career but looks ready to win a couple. ANNA’S BOY didn’t get much luck on debut after being specked in betting at odds. This is easier and he gains Pike. ROCKING THE MERC showed glimpses at trials. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY FOX WIN RACE 6 SPIRITED SESSION has always been a work in progress for Justine Erkelens. Clearly has ability but has had a tendency to over-race. Seemed to settle a bit better in his recent trial win and if he can settle forward of midfield with cover then he can run a race in a field that looks very open and deep. Should prove a strong form reference regardless of result. YOU’RE YOUR MAN and ZOUDINI both have their first start for Lindsey Smith in Western Australia. Both maiden winners in Victoria and both should be winning races over here. 1200m probably on the shorter side for the pair. KATONA was enormous last start. Infront before and after the post. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – SPIRITED SESSION EACHWAY RACE 7 SPEEDBIRD was a massive run last start. Slowly away and then tailed off for the majority of the race before being brought right down the centre by Rawiller. Got home better than anything in the concluding stages and the form through Kick A Goal Son looks quite handy after Sea Waif gave huge cheek on Saturday. Just needs to jump and stay with them in the middle stages. KITGUM should land in a wonderful position from an ideal draw. He’s getting back into form and shouldn’t spend a penny in the run. OCEANZARA was brilliant in both the Starstuck and the La Trice. Carries even less weight coming back into C3 company. Big opportunity for Taj. OFF WEGO hit the line more like his 3 year old self last start. Prior to that was only plain. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPEEDBIRD WIN RACE 8 DIAPARA might be forgotten in early markets. Hasn’t seen a race of this nature in the last 18 months and has been competitive in Saturday 60+ Graduation company on occasion. Didn’t get any luck last start and prior to that finished off well in a slowly run race at Northam. Back in grade sharply she could surprise a few. LOCK HER IN has her runs deliberately spaced by trainer Kate Kersley. She’s going quite well and is another who will sneak in under the guard. Should get a nice run out in front. Don’t discount. GOKU has the services of W.Pike. That is enough to justify a top 3 finish in a race like this. STARORIO is a fresh mare. Her win first-up at Geraldton measures up in this. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – DIAPARA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,6 1,2,3,4,5,7,8 4,5,6,7 1,2,3,12 Market Market
