Scott Embry’s Tuesday Belmont Preview Posted on December 24, 2021December 28, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AWESOME CHATTER took the big step from a maiden into a Saturday race when finishing a fairly luckless fifth behind Pat’s Got Sass and Seduce Me. Looks like he’ll only improve with racing and stepping out to 1400m should also be in his favour. Drops back to a midweeker and strikes a fairly limited field. Looks very hard to beat in this. FATALE FEMME is at cross roads. She’s caught between these races with weight and taking on the older horses. Hasn’t won since she was a 2 year old and is mixing her form. SIMPLE LOGIC was well supported at his return to racing and went hard in front before fading. PRIVATE SCENE should be able to work her way to the front and control. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – AWESOME CHATTER WIN RACE 2 SAMBAZA should be able to kick through from a lovely alley and either lead or box seat on debut. From what we’ve seen at trials it shouldn’t be too long before she breaks her maiden status and there doesn’t look to be any standouts in this field. Should be there for a long way. TOTAL LOCKDOWN might be better suited back in trip. First-up last campaign finished third behind Buster’s Force and Fine Romance. DARGIE found the front at the trials and never looked like stopping. Interesting acquisition for Mitchell Pateman’s yard. RARE CASE will attract a lot of attention. Trials have been sound, nothing special but sound. Open maiden. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – SAMBAZA EACHWAY RACE 3 CAPTAIN SHARMANE was 51 days between runs going into a 3 year old Saturday race three starts back when finshing third behind Brooklyn Pier and Time Scale. Then went onto another 3 year old Saturday when 2.75L off Timely Outburst, Vane Tempest, Speed Dream and Reign of Fire (beating home All Day Session). They’re all genuine Saturday types that she was 2.75L off. Ended the campaign in a midweeker when not disgraced behind handy ones like Ghost Who Walks, Cross Statement and Memorable Miss. Looks a nice race for her at her return. ASTRAPE joins the stables of Roy Rogers. She’s been fair this time in. Still doing a bit wrong in her races. NOBELIUM just needs to reproduce his trial to be a live chance. JANAURA is a jump run type who can fire through to lead. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN SHARMANE WIN RACE 4 CREZEE drops back into a C3 for the first time in a while. He won a C3 2000 at Pinjarra back in May and since then has had six outings including 1x 72+, 2x 66+ and 2x 60+. Drops back into a C3 staying race for the first time since then and has been building towards a race like this. From the draw he just needs air at some stage to be winding up into the mix. TAXI is on the quick back-up and importantly gets back to a genuine staying trip. He has been very consistent since breaking through at Toodyay. DANCE OF THE SOUTH can work her way to the top. She’s a tough nut to crack when she gets a cheap section or two mid-race. COUNT GRUNDY can’t do any more than he is at the minute. He’s flying. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CREZEE WIN RACE 5 MAGIC TO EXCEED gets another chance with the senior on. Hasn’t been an easy horse to ride for Laqdar Ramoly and now Jordan Turner is thrown the ride. He was able to win on the horse on debut as a 2 year old and then rode him first-up when finishing third in a 3 year old 0MWLY on Melbourne Cup Day. Wanted to run his race in patches last start and finished off like he was searching for further. Gets the extra furlong here. SOULSANA was first-up from an absence of 542 days dating back to June of 2020 when working home between horses nicely into third. Roy Rogers scratches from Boxing Day at Albany to come to Belmont and employs William Pike and a set of shades. KNOT SECRET only won an Albany maiden last start but all his 2 and 3 year old metro form more than stacks up. FLETCHER ROAD has shown ability. No surprise to see him go well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAGIC TO EXCEED WIN RACE 6 PLAYZ WITH FIRE was luckless on debut when tramping three deep the trip working and yet still loomed into the race. At start number two she got back, travelled like the winner and then worked her way through some traffic and then let down with a big turn of foot late in the race. The second horse Reliable Choice was backed from $1.90 into $1.40 on Thursday at Pinjarra and toyed with them. Looks a nice filly in the making. GORGEOUS GOSSIP looks the testing material and likely leader. Last time she was in this grade she was in front with 50m to run. Don’t discount. MIRROR MOON ran well first-up and second-up. Another win is closing in quickly. GOLDEN TIARA will get back and be doing her best late. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – PLAYZ WITH FIRE RACE 7 BRUTUS MAXIMUS is well placed back into this grade. First-up no trial resumed in a 72+ when finishing fourth behind Beret (subsequent Listed Starstruck Classic winner), Em Tee Aye and Apple Schnapps and then finished fourth again second-up in a 66+ behind God Has Chosen, Bruce Almighty and Ginger Flyer. Third-up, back in grade and up in trip. Looks an ideal set up for him. MR MT WALKER is a map horse. Every time he maps to get a soft run with cover tucked away in behind the speed he goes well. Gets those conditions here. CABLE GUY is going super. His last three have been enormous. FASHION QUEEN was backed as if unbeatable last start. Nothing went right for her in running. Forgive. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – BRUTUS MAXIMUS EACHWAY RACE 8 GRAND DESIGN gets out to 1400m which is somewhat of an unknown but her race form is certainly strong enough to win this. Most recently went to a 60+ Graduation when leading them up and finishing 2L off Miss Vasari and subsequent winners Cristal Dane and Mercanto. She can either lead or box seat and if she sticks out a strong 1400 she should be there abouts. CHUCK A LUCK is an intriguing runner at his WA debut. Won the Mornington Guineas in 2020 and a BM78 (~66+ equivalent) in May this year. Trials have been quiet. CELTIC COURT was a strong fighting win fresh. GREAT CHARADE is slowly but surely working into form. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GRAND DESIGN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,5,7,8 1,6,7 3,5,6,8,10,11,12 1,2,4 Market Market
