Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on December 15, 2021December 21, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LUCIE MANETTE was given every hope last start and just couldn’t quite hold off talented filly Constant Dreaming. Expecting that form to hold up and given the fact the race was run so slowly (9L slower than maiden average) the price might even hold up. PRANCING IN MILAN was a handy run on debut. Got to the line well and looks like she’ll only be better suited stepping up in trip. Could be Alistair Chegwidden’s next winner. GATE CRACKER is still a work in progress but has done all but win in two runs for Freddo Brown. RIP AND SNIP should give a big kick. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – LUCIE MANETTE WIN RACE 2 AMERICAN SIOUX attempted to run them ragged last start and was just left vulnerable in the last 100m. Comes from a 1200m back to an 1100m and with the benefit of the race fitness on her side she should prove hard to run down here. WITCHS CAULDRON joins the stables of Georgia Grant. Seems to do a good job with her team and can get them going fresh. Liked the trial. VALENZA is a newcomer to the region. Did run a placing at Bunbury going back 12 months. Should be a hand enough to pick-up an Esperacne maiden. JUST STRIKING wasn’t too bad at his return to racing. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN SIOUX WIN RACE 3 SCENE TO SIN has come back bigger and better again. Seems to be improving at each and every start and is showing gate speed and versatility. Like the way she’s going about things at the minute and while she’s drawn an awkward gate there is enough speed in this that they should string out and hopefully she gets across. BALLADEER went on a winning spree last season at Esperance. Keep safe at his return. SAUVEGARDE will be winning races for Helen Harding. Great return and should only improve. LOOKS LIKE MAGIC has been going alright in Perth. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SCENE TO SIN RACE 4 ALCINA returns to Esperance after she trekked it up to Ascot on Winterbottom Stakes Day to tackle the Regional Championships Final. Her win at Esperance at the first meeting was really strong and she drops 3.5kg into this event. Hard to fault her last 6 months. DIAMOND TONIQUE is going quite well for new trainer Aaron Pateman. Just needs some luck early from a tricky draw. NOBLE REFLECTION is looking like the same non-winner as he was with Simon Miller. Just doesn’t quite seem to get the job done. (That should kick him home). HAYAN LAD should find himself in a prominent position. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALCINA WIN RACE 5 SALVARA is ready to win again. From the barrier draw Craig Staples should have her in a wonderful position throughout and she should be peaking third-up from a spell. Looks a great race for her on paper. FAIR JUSTICE was a dominant winner when well found in betting at the opening meeting. Last time out never really got warm over the 1100m and finished 3L off Scene To Sin and Sauvegarde. That form will be on show earlier in the meeting and stepping out to 1400m looks very suitable for her. Will settle rearward and be saved for one last crack at them. NICKLAUS was a big beneficiary of coming back to the wider expanses of Esperance. Just doesn’t corner at Kalgoorlie. COLD AS COLD will keep improving into the campaign. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – SALVARA WIN RACE 6 ROYAL SOLDIER was the winner a long, long way from home last start. The race was put on for him when parked one out and one back following a pedestrian tempo (first 800m was 15L slower than average. Not a typo.) but when he got into the clear he let down like an above average conveyance. Thinking he can go through the grades this campaign and see no reason why he can’t win again in the same grade with an extra 1.5kg. ABOARD is Aboard. She is turning into an Esperance Sigil. Just can’t quite pinch one. MERIVALE MAGIC has run two nice enough races in Perth and now comes down with Bruce Hyde’s team. POWER AND PASSION an improver. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 14 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROYAL SOLDIER WIN RACE 7 DOUBLE SPICE is the kind of horse who could go right through the grades to open class in Esperance. Neil Dellar looks like he’s got his hands on a nice galloper and this should be a great way to kick start his preparation. First-up last preparation ran third in a 60+ Graduation at Belmont Park in an enormous effort. After that ran fourth in a 66+ behind Notorious One. The form is sensational. If there’s any sort of price: shop early. BORN SPICY will be looking to go back to back and cross and lead. May have to work hard from the barrier. YAMATAI has put the writing on the wall in two runs this preparation. LEADING MAN is almost ready. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5,6,7,8 2,8,10 1,4 1 Market Market
