Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 3, 2021December 3, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 REBEL YELL was good at the opening meeting of the Esperance Bay Turf Club when finishing second to Alcina who was far from disgraced at the Tabtouch Regional Championship Final: The Road to Ascot last weekend. Is a fresh horse who can put together a few good runs to start the campaign and see no reason why he can’t win this. NOBLE REFLECTION is a new acquisition to the region and ran third at his Esperance debut in a lower grade. Big weight dropper into this class. HAYAN LAD didn’t run for the apprentice last start. Senior on a positive. INDIAN CHANT loves the track, loves racing fresh and Taj Dyson is thrown a big opportunity by MR Peter Fernie. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – REBEL YELL WIN RACE 2 AMERICAN SIOUX has clearly had some issues throughout the years but provided Freddo Brown can keep her sound she looks capable of winning races. Won a trial in Kalgoorlie in July in style but never made it to the races and then trialled on opening day at Esperance and won the 6 horse trial in a canter winning by over 6L. AMELIA’S PICANTE found the front at her first start for Helen Harding and battled on well to finish second. DON’T COMPARE is no star but should pick up a race eventually and Lisa Staples dominated the first meeting with 5 winners. JUST STRIKING trialled up well enough at Lark Hill. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN SIOUX WIN RACE 3 SPRING TO LIFE is having his second preparation in WA and the Pierro gelding should be able to take full advantage of a nice draw. Expecting Ben Kennedy to ride his fair share of winners on the country circuit at his return to race riding and this looks a live chance on his book. Not a deep race and hopefully is ready to go fresh. GATE CRACKER clearly still has a bit to learn. Was very green and wayward last start and Freddo Brown goes to a set of pre-race ear muffs immediately. KID YOU NOT wasn’t a bad return to racing. RIP AND SNIP is a consistent type who will get out over further and further. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPRING TO LIFE WIN RACE 4 ROYAL SOLDIER put the writing on the wall first-up when tramping wide throughout from an awkward gate and still looming large in the straight when finshing second to Fair Justice, with 2L back to Noble Reflection in third. Like the vast majority of horses at that meeting was first-up no trial so expecting further improvement and with Lisa Staples jumping aboard and getting out to 1400m this looks a great race for him. Lightly raced and worth following this season. SEEL THE DEEL has only had two starts in WA at Kalgoorlie and was specked in the market at both. Keep safe. BALDERDASH had his first start for Joshua Brown and ran his usual honest race. SOLEIL DE LUNE is a new comer to WA and looks to have some ability. Might need a bit further than 1400m. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ROYAL SOLDIER WIN RACE 5 SALVARA was deep the trip first-up in a 1200 and is the kind of mare who can improve quickly into a preparation. Has won 3 races at Esperance previously as well as a handful of other impressive minors and she tends to get better and better with racing. Think second-up from a better barrier she’s a legitimate chance. PROZONE was plunged on occasion in Kalgoorlie and while he hasn’t won for a long while he has no weight and barrier 1 to work with. NICKLAUS doesn’t seem to corner at Kalgoorlie. Big improver back to Esperance. ANOTHER DEMON will find the right race soon. Going along ok. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SALVARA WIN RACE 6 ABOARD is struggling to pinch that second race of her career. She was luckless first-up behind Warzachantz when held up on straightening until finally getting clear at the 200. She’s the kind of mare who can’t afford any bad luck in her races and with the added fitness and an extra 100m willing to give her one more go. Patience starting to wear thin with her. WARZACHANTZ looked like being a nice pick up for Gary Burger and didn’t let him down with a strong fresh win. Should only get better from there. JOYRIZE ran some great races in Kalgoorlie. Willing to forgive the first run in Esperance. FAIR ONE didn’t get out that well first-up. If he jumps he could settle much closer. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – ABOARD WIN RACE 7 I AM SPARTACUS was a serious win first-up. Settled rearward and watched the race unfold in front of him before getting to the outside and letting down with the best turn of foot of the program. Once King’s Authority got into the clear thought he would have got through to win but he couldn’t match it with I Am Spartacus who looks in for a big preparation for new trainer Joanna Offen. SAUVEGARDE is a new pick up for Helen Harding. Can really roll if they ride her for speed and she’s hard to run down on her day. SCENE TO SIN was a solid return to racing when leading first-up. TRAMONTANE can produce a big one fresh. Keep safe with no weight. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – I AM SPARTACUS WIN RACE 8 YAMATAI was the replay run of the meeting outside of the I Am Spartacus victory. Settled in a different postcode to them and was rattling home under Victoria Corver. Was drawn gate 11 of 12 first-up and is now draw in gate 2. From the barrier hopefully she can settle closer and if she can reproduce the turn of foot from a better position in running should be hard to hold out late. BORN SPICY was knocking on the door throughout the Kalgoorlie season and was even beaten a nose at Northam one day by stablemate Bright Glow. Logical danger. GOODBYEFEDS ran into a lot of bad luck on numerous occasions at Kalgoorlie. OUR PANDEMONIUM is a talented enough to win a race or two this season. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – YAMATAI WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,5,6 1,3,4,5,8 1,2 4,7,10 Market Market
