Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on November 12, 2021November 12, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HALATORION trialled like a beast at Belmont when skipping clear to win by over 3L and then raced wide throughout at Northam and rolled outwards rounding the corner and still only went down late at the hands of Talk It Up. Beat home Yuna Mailman who won at York and with a Belmont winner on Thursday Maddy Cornick should be full of confidence. Takes beating. URBAN WARRIOR has his first start in WA for Gerry Hughes and has finished second in maidens at Canberra and Newcastle in the past. MILLIVOY gave Boy Hill nightmares at Northam on debut and then was an alarming drifter at Narrogin when not really firing. Keeping safe as he looks to have ability. PRO IS HERE trialled up well and the third at Pinjarra reads up well considering Hot Zed ran second! Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – HALATORION WIN RACE 2 HENRY THE AVIATOR has been given a few trials at Lark Hill by Paul Hunter to ensure he is sufficiently fit for his debut at the opening meeting of the Great Southern. Considering there hasn’t been a set of trials at Albany a lot of these horses first-up may be vulnerable and Henry The Aviator has shown sufficient ability in all of them to suggest he’ll be winning races. ARAMAT ran a lot of placings last preparation. Rosie Mahony and Jon Jachmann teamed up well in Carnarvon and can definitely continue on the partnership with success here. DARGIE showed ability at trials when last in work and did run third after leading at Pinjarra. Roy Rogers tend to be ready to go first-up. GODGIVEMESTRENGTH may need further but has a turn of foot on his day. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – HENRY THE AVIATOR WIN RACE 3 RUBY JEAN was plunged at her return to racing at Narrogin. Backed off the map which was intriguing for a get back style of mare at a leaders track, especially over what looked to be an unsuitable distance. Think she did a super job to get as close to them as she did in the finish through traffic and second-up at 1450m looks perfect for us to chime in after others showed their hand first-up. CATCHYA CATCHYA has some nice Albany form from when last in work. Looks like she can win more than just a C2 this campaign. AYASHA was excellent behind Treasured Star, Pick Your Battles, Ghost Who Walks and Safety Fuse fresh. CONVALESCE looked like being a metro horse at one stage. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RUBY JEAN WIN RACE 4 THE GREAT ONE has only had three starts in WA so far and they were all in far tougher races than this over winter. Ran fourth at his WA debut behind Secret Statue, Time Scale and Double Spice in a 60+ Graduation before floundering on a Heavy track and then finishing midfield in another 60+ Grad behind Sentimental Hero and Sentimental Queen. Thought his recent trial was solid considering they went 53.84 and he looks well placed. WORTH A RISK would be a handy Albany type of mare if she was to stay in the region. Best kept fresh and best runs have been when allowed to roll. SCREAM IN BLUE went well fresh. OXBRIDGE returns first-up no trial and you would think Peter Knuckey had first call on the SJ Wolfe runners. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE GREAT ONE WIN RACE 5 DARK ASSAULT makes his return to the races after winning the Sky Provincial Series Final at Belmont back in May. Had two runs after that, in a 66+ behind Comfort Me, Sheza Chalmer and Bright Diamond in a white hot form race and then in the Belmont Guineas when nothing went right for W.Pike. Drawn the inside, luxury to get a 1.5kg claim out of Holly Watson the way she’s riding and should get every chance. LACEVINSKY was strong at Narrogin and looks capable of graduating through the 70+ ratings races this time in. ECHO EFFECT goes well fresh and gets into the race after the claim. GRAND DESIGN never stopped chasing fresh. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DARK ASSAULT WIN RACE 6 KENDEL’S MEE DAD was a revelation for Roy Rogers from around April 2020 onwards. Has had 9 starts at Albany for 4 wins and 4 minors, is proven fresh, is drawn ideally and gives Jett Stanley back to back opportunities in the Sky Provincial Series with Warm N Fuzzy on Saturday and Kendel’s Mee Dad on Sunday both looking big chances. ANNIHILATOR didn’t go an inch on the dirt at Carnarvon. Forget he went there. His overall grass form is good enough to win this. KAZKAZI didn’t get much luck on return at Ascot. STARUTHORESS produced some big runs when last in work. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – KENDEL’S MEE DAD WIN RACE 7 CABLE BOY didn’t come up in his first preparation for Steve Wolfe. His final run for Adam Durrant back in March he finished third behind Standout Rose and Miss Vasari in a 3 year old 0MWLY at Ascot and then he was only moderate in three runs over winter. Recent trial was good enough to suggest he can bounce back. THE PUGILIST is a noted fresh horse who makes his WA debut for a noted fresh stable. Keep safe and watch the money. CLASSIC MAGNUS looks well placed back into a C2 event by new trainer Peter Western. Last two runs of the previous campaign were a C5 and a 58+. MR CAUSEWAY had a trial back in June and was then put away. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – CABLE BOY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4 1,3,5,7 1,2,4,6 1,4,6 Market Market
