Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 6, 2021July 6, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TAKEMEHOMETONIGHT finds a new home with Martin Allan and strikes a very winnable race at her stable debut. Placed on soft6 and soft7 at her last two which is a major positive heading into a meeting where the track will likely be in the Heavy range and has the gate speed to kick up underneath horses and hold a prominent position or even lead them up. From there gets her chance. PEPPER ASSAULT has looked a ready made race horse at trials and we follow the Sessions stock into any rain affected meeting. Pike a bonus and from the draw is the logical danger. EVEN MAGIC didn’t fire fresh but can improve here. MISSILE is likely to go round short and was nominated for Monday’s abandoned trials. Looked a big awkward type on debut. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – TAKEMEHOMETONIGHT WIN RACE 2 SEEABLE is on debut at 1200 and comes out of only 950m Lark Hill trials but from what we’ve seen he looks a talented type with a serious motor. Recently was allowed to roll to the top by Rawiller and never looked like being run down in the trial, going across the line in neutral with plenty in the tank. This is an even race but from the draw he should stay out of traffic and out of trouble. VRANYO is a query at the end of 1200m and tends to go round on the short side but she has done nothing wrong this campaign and gets some weight relief after the claim for Watson. KELLY’S LASSIE was doing her best late through gaps in the trial and should position up. BEST TESTIMONY hit the line hard in a recent trial from a long way back. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – SEEABLE WIN RACE 3 WISE WORDS can be used up early in her races and still gives a strong kick into the straight. Was only run down late last start and has flashed ability in her four runs this preparation. First-up didn’t get the best of luck in a forgive effort, second-up ran out of her skin in a fast run and high rating midweek event, third-up found the speedy 1000m types a little sharp when chasing throughout and last start in another Saturday race went down fighting to an above average juvenile. Back to midweek grade gets her chance. HEAR ME SING has a horror gate on paper but wait and see how the track/rail conditions are evolving. Could be a blessing in disguise. Ran some big races in the early 2 year old season. SAINTLY CITY goes round a big price but comes from a very strong form race. Keep safe. IT’SARAYDAY finished off the most recent trial impressively. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WISE WORDS WIN RACE 4 SMASHING contested tougher races than this last campaign and was far from disgraced. Her effort behind Kissonallforcheeks, Solaia, Western Empire and Chantorque in the Lee Steere Classic was excellent and she looks to have found a wide open and winnable race first-up over the short course. Doesn’t look to be any serious speed and Chris Parnham may elect to roll forward on her in the small field. Nice race for her. GUNMETAL GREY and HOT MIX had promising initial campaigns when last in work and both look like fillies who will make the grade. Wouldn’t read much into either trial and both should be competitive in this. GIANCANA was woeful at her most recent. The difference between her best (2L off Chantorque & Charleton Eddie in a Placid Ark) and worst (last start) is 10L+. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SMASHING WIN RACE 5 KEEP YOUR FEET comes from high grade of racing than this. Second in 3 year old plates behind Madam Torio and Our Danni beating home the likes of Devine Beast, All Day Session and Ghost Who Walks and went around a single figure chance in the 3yo Pinjarra Magic Millions when last in work. No blinkers in the recent trial and if you’re worried about the margin just go and watch the trial before the first-up run last preparation. Right grade, luxury of the 3kg Watson claim and should go well. WESTERN RHYTHM sat deep throughout after meeting with market support first-up no trial. Blinkers on, Pike on, soft7 winner. Plenty to like. STARLIFT comes into this fresh and hails from one of WA’s inform yards. GORGEOUS GOSSIP takes on the older horses and can run well at odds. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – KEEP YOUR FEET WIN RACE 6 DAD’S BIGHEADED comes from a strong 3 year old 0MWLY race which contained third and fourth place getters from the Aquanita Stakes in Tradem’in and Truly Reliable as well as impressive Kalgoorlie 58+ winner on Sunday in Sunsphere. Drops back into a C1, gets an important 2kg off with the highly popular Ramoly claim and will likely open an eachway quote with a last start Cerise and White maiden winner in the field, has the right form and got through a wet track last start. PAMBELLA has never seen a C1 in her life. Since breaking her maiden she has raced in 16 Listed, Group, 78+, 66+ and 60+ Graduation races. Neville Parnham class dropper – keep safe. DARK LASS lengthened nicely to score first-up and will no doubt take holding out late. Final furlong split was sizzing to win her maiden. CHALUKE covered ground last start and kept coming. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – DAD’S BIGHEADED WIN RACE 7 SKETTA is chasing a winning hattrick at her return to racing and there looks to be no reason on paper why she can’t win again. Proven on the rain affected tracks having won on soft6 ground at both runs this preparation and looks a progressive filly on the rise. Fred Kersley has produced 5 individual winners in the last month and provided Beaux Edwards can keep her going straight (laid in badly on debut and has since followed the fence) she’ll be hard to hold out late. TIME SCALE was allowed to stride last start and seemed to appreciate it. Is a filly who can get pulling in her races so expecting that Holly Watson will be coming across from out deep. Drops back to a C3 and gets in well at the weights after the claim. MOOD GODDESS has been competitive in tougher races than this over her career. DIVINE QUEST is never far from the action and gets the right run from the draw. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SKETTA WIN RACE 8 GUNNAGO is well placed back into a 60+ by Jason Pateman. Last 9 races have been in higher grade than this since winning a C5 back in July of 2020 with 60kg. In that time has finished second to Montelena in a 72+ over 2000m at Belmont Park and placed twice in 66+ grade. Brad Rawiller sticks, strikes a race without a deal of speed and while he has to lump top weight, he is a Heavy8 winner and placegetter. Nice assignment for him. LADY DUCKWORTH had no luck last start when working throughout. When she saw a soft7 at Pinjarra she deadest lapped them. ARAGAIN didn’t fire a solitary shot last start but you can always forgive these midweek staying types for one below par performance. CELTIC DIVA is always a blowout hope in this grade with the right run. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – GUNNAGO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,7,10,12 1,2,4,5,8 2,8 1,2,3,5,6,8,11,12 Market Market
