Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 8, 2021June 8, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOW’S THE SERENITY is coming from stronger races and finally we get to see Simon Miller unleash promising young apprentice Holly Watson in the metro area. Looks the right kind of horse to get her off to a flyer and the form around Comes a Time and Sheza Chalmer from 3yo 62+ and 60+ Graduation looks great for a race of this nature. MYSTICAL VIEW will have opinions divided on whether or not she has returned this preparation. Doing a bit wrong. CAPTAIN BURGLAR won well last start and Run D’Affair Run made the form good Sunday. COMANCHE CHANT trialled up well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOW’S THE SERENITY WIN RACE 2 ASTRAPE was all the rage last start and the target of big pre-post money when plunged from $3.20 into $1.95. Unfortunately for her loyal follows there was no luck to be had when tramping three deep the trip chasing a hot tempo set by Wise Words. Overall race time 4.5L faster than average and she was doing all the work. Lost no admirers. GROUND BRAKER has put the writing on the wall in two runs. Comes from the same form race behind Magic To Exceed and Jade McNaught has hit a bit of form in the saddle. NORICH is an intriguing horse. Last seen at Pingrup with 56kg when beaten 20+. Trial was sharp. HERE’S DREAMING was doing her best late in the trial. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – ASTRAPE WIN RACE 3 MY BOY EDDY has caught the eye at trials and it looks on paper as though Pat Carbery had the choice of Vranyo or the debutante and he’s gone with the Blackfriars gelding. Recent trial was impressive and he looks a ready made 1200m type. Definite chance of breaking through on debut. VRANYO brings the right form to this midweek 2 year old assignment. Was an alarming drifter first-up in a Saturday race when finishing off strongly late into fourth placing. With Bopping Blue coming out and beating Ultimate Command on the weekend the form is strong and with Chris Parnham in the saddle gets the right run. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY was scratched on debut but had trialled up well. BEADS looked to have something to give on debut when looming up. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – MY BOY EDDY WIN RACE 4 PERFECT GEM got into a bumping duel in the home straight last start and never really got balanced at any stage. Forgive the effort. Prior form behind Bragwell and Tri For Us is quality. Gets a soft run from the draw and if the market abandons her off the one ‘poor’ performance she might just get out to an attractive quote late. QUEEN OF SOUL won a maiden impressively and found the jump to 58+ company a bridge too far. SATURN BLACK ran well first-up behind a few sharp 1000m types. JOHNNY ANGEL gets a chance to find the top. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – PERFECT GEM WIN RACE 5 BEAU ZOOM is proving a hard horse to catch but his last two runs have definitely been encouraging. Second to Angelic Miss two starts ago at Ascot when sitting in the box seat and far from disgraced last time out in another 66+ when finishing behind Magniforce and subsequent impressive Saturday winner in Comfort Me. Looks a great deal of speed here and he gets a soft tracking run. FOREST WAR improved sharply last start when allowed to get out deep to the middle of the track. Let down impressively. I’M ICEY resumed at 1300m and ran a very cheeky race. Better placed here. NURHACI will need an ounce of luck from the draw. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – BEAU ZOOM WIN RACE 6 MATERIAL WITNESS is still learning what racing is all about but once he gets balanced he can reel off some impressive closing sections. In theory the long straight at Belmont should really suit him and he is coming out of a high rating C3 behind Wiener Waltz. Going well, improving with racing and should be suited by the Belmont 1000 course. FIRST LAW was backed heavily last start and didn’t get the best of runs from a tricky draw. Senior rider takes over but the gate is even harder than last start. TOVARICH was repeatedly underrated last start. Jumps and runs. NUHAD has 10L between her best and worst. At her best she’s good enough. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MATERIAL WITNESS WIN RACE 7 ENDURING MOMENT was a highly impressive trial when looming large under Shaun O’Donnell and never asked for an effort. First-up resumed in a hot 60+ behind Puli, Bright Diamond and Comes A Time. Finished ninth and was only moderate to the eye but this is a much easier assignment. Previous C5 winner in a C3, William Pike taking over riding duties and is versatile. sDAD’S BIGHEADED is the obvious danger on paper. Comes up in grade from a C1 into a C3 but hit the line impressively first start for the new yard. OXBRIDGE is an honest campaigner. SEA WAIF can lead without pressure. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – ENDURING MOMENT WIN RACE 8 REBEL HEART looked the goods at trials when finishing off under no riding behind 72+ sprinter Boomtastic in a hot 950m trial at Lark Hill. Resumed at 1650 in a C3 and was far from disgraced behind Chili Is Hot (subsequent 3rd in a 60+ and headed to the Belmont Oaks). Drops from a C3 back into a C1, draws a gate and should only be improved fitness wise. ELAFELLA is coming up in grade but once he got clear late last start charged through the line behind a smart one. AL MAHALO will need some luck in running because he’ll be cluttered away in traffic. MAN OF THE HOUR is honest and consistent. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – REBEL HEART WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 1,2 3,4 1,2,3,4 Market Market
