Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 19, 2021February 19, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STORM THEIF resumed first-up no trial when coming back from a 2000m race when last in work to the 1000m straight at Pinjarra and ran a ripping race when third (and luckless) behind Promisssion and It’s Tiffs. Should prove hard to beat here. STARLIFT is drawn toward the outside, has blinkers on and has speed. Looks a recipe for a big showing at her second career outing. ZARMELLA trialled really well at Lark Hill when winning in slick time. The only query is how she goes drawn on the complete wrong side of the straight. THE VERDICT trialled up nicely and should run a race in an evenly graded maiden. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – STORM THEIF WIN RACE 2 TYPE WON was beaten first-up in a maiden handicap. Not normally the best form guides but she fits the profile of a 1000m straight winner. Speed – tick, outside fence – tick. After Carleen Hefel’s claim she carries a luxurious 53.5kg and should take beating. MISS VASARI isalso drawn the outside fence and looked to have plenty to give at trials when held up at crucial stages. SPICY DANCER has been knocking on the door and the straight track experience seems to count for plenty. POUAKAI is drawn horribly (for this kind of race) but trialled up well. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – TYPE WON WIN RACE 3 IRON SHARP gets one last chance here. Resumed in a 3 year old late when running a strong 4L seventh behind super talented types including Kissonallforcheeks, Vane Tempest and In The Boat. Dropped back into maiden company and was plunged from $8 into $3.40. Couldn’t get the job done but did have some minor excuses. Senior rider on, we’ll butter up. MY HIDDEN JOURNEY has always flashed potential and ability. Scratched recently which is a concern but the trial was impressive. RECITING had tongues wagging at trials when last in work but couldn’t get the job done in a few weak maidens. STRAWBERRY MIST looked good at Lark Hill. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – IRON SHARP WIN RACE 4 LINCOLN’S LAW looks to have found his race. Ran into Spritely Star first-up for the new camp and ran a brave second beaten under half a length. Lead them up last start and had everything except progressive and exciting Peters 3 year old Pure Devotion beaten. They kicked more than 2.5L away from the rest of the field and that should be an indicator of the strength of the performance. Plenty of punters sweating on prices. OLDEN looks plain on paper last start running fourth but when you review the entire Ascot meeting he was a great effort. Ended up in the worst possible position given the conditions and must be forgiven. MAIN ENGINE comes from the same race as Lincoln’s Law and has 4L to make up. The draw helps big time. FEAT THE WIND showed a bit when last in work and the Pearce brothers are flying. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 13 – 7 Suggested Bet – LINCOLN’S LAW WIN RACE 5 HOLY ENCHANTMENT is just one of the many SJ Miller horses who are absolutely airborne at the minute. He resumed over what looked to be an unsuitable 1200m in the Pinjarra Magic Millions 3 year old trophy and stormed to the line behind Gemma’s Son and Island Charm. Steps up in trip and looks a big, strong, improving type headed for the WATC Derby prep. LAYLO is in career best form and always gives herself a fighting chance with her race pattern. BUMPER HUMPER is well placed against the older horses and must be in the mix. WINE NIGHT can mix her form but her best is definitely good enough. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – HOLY ENCHANTMENT WIN RACE 6 OUTBACK JACK was put into the race by McGruddy in the Pinjarra Magic Millions 3 year old trophy after he got really keen in running and had to be pulled out around heels to sit deep from the 800. Great return to racing, highly progressive type, right yard, in form hoop, proven weight carrier. Looks the one on paper. LIL RED BIKINI was an eye catching effort in the Pearl Classic and should find this an easier assignment. JADAVI hit the line well in a ridiculously fast run and high rating race last start. KORANIS showed a bit at his most recent and draws soft. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUTBACK JACK WIN RACE 7 BILLY AIN’T SILLY is well placed taking on the older horses in C1 company. Has to carry weight but his form is simply superior to rivals. Third on debut behind Saturday winners All Day Session and Born to Rule before beating Empire Reign and More Snitzel at his second start. Finished his prep with a 3.5L midfield effort behind Queen Brown, Keep Your Feet and Chix Chatter. With even luck he’s very hard to beat. MYSTERY MAN is another who is well placed against the older horses. Blinkers on, coming out of a restricted listed race. Just needs luck. MORE SNITZEL is the third of the 3 year olds who look to have a class advantage on the older rivals. BLOW ME OUT rounds out the 3 year old top 4 after an encouraging trial. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – BILLY AIN’T SILLY WIN RACE 8 SAMIZDAT ran well at the sprint trip in the Summer Scorcher, hit the line powerfully second-up in the Miss Andretti and then was too big and strong for Flirtini (who was enormous herself) in the Scenic Blast. He is a horse who looks your perfect Pinjarra commodity as the longer more forgiving straight gives Shaun O’Donnell time to wind him up. Looks a great race for him. SERENITY BAY was trying to match motors with Arcadia Queen at trials and never runs a bad race. Never missed the money in 13 outings and you’ll get an eachway quote. SON OF A GOD is deserving of a crack in this grade after a few big 78+ efforts. GEMMA’S SON takes on the older horses and proved himself last preparation at WFA. Was a set weights moral in the Magic Millions. Interesting to see what the market does with him here. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – SAMIZDAT WIN RACE 9 GLASGOW GIRL has had three career outings up the 1000m straight at Pinjarra and placed on all three occasions. Looks like she has found a suitable race and if she can glide across toward the outside fence with fellow speedsters then she looks more than capable of running an eachway race. REQUISITION is bursting to win a race and this does look his to lose on paper. Will take serious beating with the barrier he has landed. STELLA DOOR showed above average ability as a 3 year old. SHOCK RESULT should go well. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GLASGOW GIRL EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,4,7 1,3 1,2,7,9,10,11 3,10 Market Market
