Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 28, 2021January 28, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 LIAM NEIL (4) has been unplaced at his last five starts but drops in class tonight and should give a great sight. FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY (9) did things wrong at his first start for a new stable but has trialled nicely and is the class runner of the field. MATTESTIC STAR (1) is an enigmatic type but did lead throughout here in 1.55.8 last year and would be winning if he reproduced that effort. TWENTYNINE TWELVE (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous late. Tips: 4 9 1 10 Suggested Bet: FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY (9) to win. Race 2 ANTERO (1) was a solid winner here two starts before facing the breeze when a strong 4th to Babyface Adda last week. He is drawn to lead tonight and is clearly the one to beat. BETTOR BE OSCAR (10) ran on well to finish 3rd in the same race and looks a great each-way chance following the favourite. ROCK ME OVER (11) has been disappointing of late but is the class runner of the field. ROLL WITH ME (12) wasn’t far away in a quick last quarter last week and can be placed with the right run. Tips: 1 10 11 12 Suggested Bet: ANTERO (1) to win. Race 3 CARRERA MACH (1) worked his way to the front from a backline draw and raced away for an impressive 1.54.9 victory at his last start. He goes up in class but has the advantage of the pole draw and should give a great sight. DIEGO (2) led throughout to bring up his 5th win from seven starts this time in and is the obvious danger. THE KRAKEN (3) must be considered after winning two of his last three starts but is drawn outside the favoured pair. OUR RHYTHM N BLUES (10) should enjoy a nice run and can play a part first-up. Tips: 1 2 3 10 Suggested Bet: CARRERA MACH (1) to win. Race 4 TALKTOMEURMATTJESTY (9) led throughout to record a 15m victory here two starts back before working to the front when a game 9.6m 5th to Chicago Bull. He goes up in distance tonight but will give a great sight if he finds the top. CHIAROSCURO (1) led throughout here three starts back and has options from the draw tonight. WHOZIDEAWASTHIS (2) chased hard when 2nd to TALKTOMEURMATTJESTY (9) and will appreciate this trip. SIMBA BROMAC (4) can be dangerous with the right run. Tips: 9 1 2 4 Suggested Bet: TALKTOMEURMATTJESTY (9) to win. Race 5 MAGNIFICENT STORM (11) brought up his 11th win a row when facing the breeze and defeating a similar field at his last start. He goes to the backline tonight but is clearly the one to beat. PATRONUS STAR (6) led throughout here last week to bring up his 9th win from 12 WA starts and is the obvious danger. MINSTREL (4) made mistakes in consecutive races before putting it all together when winning from the breeze here last week and must be respected. HOWARD HUGHES (5) did things wrong last week but has plenty of ability. Tips: 11 6 4 5 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (11) to win. Race 6 GARDYS LEGACY (2) attempted to lead throughout but was found wanting late when a 7m 4th to Magnificent Storm in 1.54.0 at his last start before a short break. He will find this an easier assignment and looks hard to beat from his nice draw. MANNING (7) has won three of his last four starts and will be charging home if there is a solid early tempo. PARMESAN (5) has won 14 of his 24 career starts and was a third at his last start. EUPHORIA (10) has won three of his last four and should be thereabouts if he has any luck from his awkward draw. Tips: 2 7 5 10 Suggested Bet: GARDYS LEGACY (2) to win. Race 7 MIRACLE MOOSE (8) ran a nice 2nd at his last start and should be ready to show his best at his 4th run back from a spell., IDEAL INVESTMENT (2) has struggled from bad draws of late but can lead here and give them something to catch. WALSH (5) is back to his best and is capable of winning this event with the right trip in transit. MAJOR STARE (6) faced the breeze and wasn’t far away at his first run back from a break and should strip fitter for that effort. Tips: 8 2 5 6 Suggested Bet: MIRACLE MOOSE (8) to win. Race 8 RUN FOR MERCY (1) led throughout here two starts back and draws nicely for this event. It is her first race start from the stand but she will be hard to beat if she steps cleanly at the start. KIWI BLOKE (4) ran three consecutive 2nds before two sub-par performance before going for a break but has trialled nicely and loves the stand. DELIGHTFULREACTION (6) ran a nice 2nd in a stand here two starts back and is always dangerous with the right run. MANOFTHEPEOPLE (2) is an experienced campaigner from the tapes and can be placed. Tips: 1 4 6 2 Suggested Bet: RUN FOR MERCY (1) to win. Race 9 RUMOUR HAS IT (4) has won three of her last four starts and looks the one to beat again despite the rise in class. ROYAL ESSENCE (1) led throughout to defeat a weaker field at her last start and must be considered from the pole. BENESARI LANE (6) raced well in a short campaign last time in and will be charging home tonight. BLACK JACK BABY (7) hasn’t come back as well after a break after winning eight of her ten starts to start her career but has plenty of ability so must be respected. Tips: 4 1 6 7 Suggested Bet: RUMOUR HAS IT (4) to win. Race 10 WAINUI CREEK (2) won three of her last four starts before going for a spell and will be hard to beat first-up if she can cross at the start. QUEEN SHENANDOAH (1) has won her last two starts in under 1.54.0 so is the obvious danger and it will be interesting to see if she sticks with the successful sit-sprint style or tries to hold up from the pole. SHEZA BROMAC (3) will sit just behind the favoured pair and looks a good place chance. DIVINIA BELLEZZA (6) has hit peak form but has an awkward draw to overcome. Tips: 2 1 3 6 Suggested Bet: WAINUI CREEK (2) to win. Market Market
