Scott Embry’s Friday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 17, 2020December 17, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 POPCORN TENDER jumps off the page from a form perspective. Only two starts ago ran second behind Champagne Diva who has won races in town and been competitive since in Saturday 3 year old grade. Last start ran fourth behind Speedbird, Castillo Del Lago and Ginger Green who all look like handy metro types. Resumes first-up no trial in a Geraldton maiden and should get the job done. SUPER BON is more than capable of making things interesting considering how well he went at his WA debut. ALMATALK finds a new home and is speedy. RUNBABE was a better run than it reads on paper first start for Allan Hughes. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – POPCORN TENDER WIN RACE 2 LA MOURNE gets a senior rider on and looks poised to strike. A Bob Peters mare who never made it to the races in the Cerise and White but has put in two eye catching performances for Graeme Hammarquist. Could be a hidden gem and this looks a great race for her. KALAKAUA likely rolls to the top or sits outside Future Queen and should be winning races in the country. FUTURE QUEEN was allowed to roll last start and appreciated it. NEW PRINCESS hit the line hard at her most recent. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – LA MOURNE WIN RACE 3 STRONG HEART dropped back t o1400m two starts ago when hitting the line hard and having no luck in the home straight behind Family Discussion, Ziera and Sadler’s Hills. Last start ran into likely Geraldton horse of the year in Invictus Domini and finished off well. This is ‘up in grade’ but no stronger opposition and from the draw looks the one. SAKARYA steps to relatively unchartered territory but ran well in the same race last week. GALAXY BLAZE and TRULY GOLD are both proven Midwest stayers. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – STRONG HEART WIN RACE 4 OLIVIA KNOWS is 45 days between runs after putting in an uncharacteristic shocker beaten 5.5L. Didn’t get any luck in that race and can definitely be forgiven. Troy Turner jumps off to stick with Don’t Argue Buster but looks a plumb pick-up ride for Simone Altieri. Interesting to see if the market abandons ship too. HAYSTACKS was competitive all throughout last campaign and from the draw should get a suitable trip. MAKFI AMOUR put in two good runs then two bad runs. Needs to improve but capable. DON’T ARGUE BUSTER has a dreaded gear change but Gordon Spowart is astute. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – OLIVIA KNOWS WIN RACE 5 GINGER WILLIE finally finds a race that doesn’t contain Invictus Domini. Finished in the money at his last 5 and three of those have been behind Invictus Domini and the other was behind Family Discussion. Has run into the form horses of the region so far this preparation and now back into C1 company, back to 1400m and with the services again of Troy Turner looks to have found his race. ISOPODA only just fell in first-up but in review was probably one of the few horses to make much ground in that part of the track. Just needs an ounce of luck. SIGNIFICANT HERO and ALL THE JULZ a cog behind the top two. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – GINGER WILLIE WIN RACE 6 FAMILY DISCUSSION alongside Invictus Domini, Mycroft and Kennyluck has been one of the more impressive rises through the grades under the care of Gordon Spowart. Gunning for four in a line and finds yet another winnable race. Weight is starting to catch up with him but he should again go close. MAY KEEP HIM has the weight pull to make things interesting. May not have the same runs on the board but has been going super without winning. ARABIAN RICHES ran fourth in town last start in a very good display. AURMAN ZOU couldn’t have done anymore at his WA debut. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – FAMILY DISCUSSION WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 3,4 1,2,3,6 1,3 2,4,7,10 Market Market
