Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 4, 2020December 4, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BIG FISH was the target of big money first-up no trial at the opening meeting at Esperance. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, especially when the horse in question in trained by MR Peter Fernie. Following up here after he did it a little tough in the early stages first-up. AURAE is becoming frustrating for followers of Helen Harding. Continues to loom the winner and just can’t get the job done. STRICT RULER was a nice trial going back a few months. Not a lot has gone right at the races. RUN FOR GOLD lead them up at Northam back in July and gave some cheek. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – BIG FISH WIN RACE 2 CONCRETE MADAME ran third in the 64+ on opening day behind Ahu Dhabi and Ali Barber. Drops back into a 58+, senior rider goes on and from the draw should get across to a winnable position right over the top of the speed. AMELIE ARGOT was slow away at her Helen Harding debut and with the claim is extremely well placed in this grade. BOOTLEG RASCAL is no doubt looking for further but the fresh run shows that Freddo Brown will have fun with him. BUSY ONE has been in form for months and continues to sneak under the radar. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – CONCRETE MADAME WIN RACE 3 MUST RUSH is a speedy mare who should give them something to run down. Ran third when breezing in a Northam maiden behind Shock Result and Heels a Plenty. Is drawn wide but expecting Dhurun to use her best asset and attempt to clear them from out wide. BIZZI TOO hasn’t been seen for a while but Jo Leeson’s travelling team all have eachway hopes. Drawn to enjoy the run of the race. ROYAL SOLDIER was strong in the market on debut and ran a nice race. Should be winning one in the first few Esperance meetings. ORANMENTAL BELLE makes her debut. Was beaten a long way at the Esperance trials but her ones at Lark Hill were ok. Numbers 7 – 8 – 5 – 13 Suggested Bet – MUST RUSH WIN RACE 4 HELMS GATE ran third on the traditional annual Kalgoorlie Cup Day when splitting talented types Some Sort and Sherpa Lass in a 72+. Then went to a m66+ in town when running ninth but behind a stack of talented types including In Love With Paris, Sweet Dreamin’, Comes a Time and Niccovi. Kept fresh looks well placed. ALI BARBER was arguably the find of the season last year and the fresh run shows that Fiona Scott will be winning more races with him this campaign. GILLESPIE has won two on the trot and there is no reason why he can’t make it a hattrick. ANOTHER DEMON is always there abouts this grade. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – HELMS GATE WIN RACE 5 TRAMONTANE ran them into the ground first start for Jo Leeson at Mt Barker when Hannah Fitzgerald rode and took him straight to the front and rode him for speed. That is the way to ride him, because when he doesn’t find the fence he looks all at sea. Needs a rail to follow and should get that here. Can bounce back. MISS UNFORGETTABLE finds herself with local battler Josh Brown and she did show glimpse of ability when last in work. Drawn sticky but worth consideration at a price. SLICK UNIT has no weight after the claim and can improve sharply. SCENE TO SIN should enjoy the run of the race and probably should have won first-up when Graham found more traffic than last season’s Great Southern Cup. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – TRAMONTANE WIN RACE 6 SALVARA has had 10 starts at Esperance for 8 top 3 finishes, including 3 wins. Loves the 1400m, goes well enough fresh and is well placed and suited in this grade. All of her runs at Kalgoorlie were strong and from the draw she gets every chance to score. NORDIC KING can mix his form but on his day his best is clearly good enough. Looked sharp in a recent Esperance trial and Teagan Klun seems to do a good job with these tried types. Great opportunity for Spuds Galati. MISTY LAD should be a brilliant acquisition for Neil Dellar and it won’t be long until he wins one. UNIKAT ran second first-up and should only improve for the outing. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SALVARA WIN RACE 7 ARSINOE was an emphatic winner at the opening meeting, rises only 2kg in weight and meets a near identical line-up that she belted fresh. If she holds form and reproduces the run then on weights and measures she’ll take serious beating. MISS ABBY is a tough steer for a 4kg claimer. Clearly has enough ability to turn the tables but will need luck in running. BLACK RUSSIAN didn’t fire a shot first-up. Josh Brown makes a few gear changes but he might just need further. SOUND OF FURY always a top 4 chance. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – ARSINOE WIN Quad (R4 – R7) 2,3,51,2,4,6,7,8,9,111,3,5,6,92 Market Market
