Scott Embry’s Monday Belmont Preview Posted on September 26, 2020September 25, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BRAGWELL made his debut behind the highly talented and highly exciting Reign of Fire. Running second to him is a super form reference for an all age maiden and his recent trial was sharp. From the draw he should hold a position and prove hard to beat. GALLANT RANGER is no slouch and loved the way he trialled recently. Box seat from gate 1 a perfect assignment on debut. HELLS BELLE should cross to the top and from there she can run a cheeky race. DOOWAHDIDDY will be suited over further but showed glimpses last preparation. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – BRAGWELL WIN RACE 2 IANS SPECIAL is one that a lot of trial watchers will have been eagerly awaiting to make her debut. Not given any favours by the barrier Gods having drawn 13 of 13 for her debut but boy has she been impressive at Lark Hill. The first trial when snagged back to last was brilliant when never getting into first gear and then at her most recent when Alan Kennedy sat her outside the leader she destroyed them. CHOIX DE LACE only knows one way and that is to jump and run. Her trials this preparation show she may have strengthened and matured. THE FIBONACCI did things wrong on debut and didn’t get any luck at all. Clearly he’s going to win plenty of races. JUSTHANDY trialled well and this is a drop in class from what she contested as a juvenile. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – IANS SPECIAL WIN RACE 3 NOTORIOUS ONE comes from a maiden into a C3. Not something that is done with success very often but he looks one out of the box. His trials suggested that he had ability and his debut win was arrogant. It was against average types and he came to the best part of the track but if he takes natural improvement from the experience he could charge through the grades. Patience paying off for team Gangemi. BOBCAT JOHNNIE looked to have found the perfect race last start and plunged $6 into $3.50 before being planted out deep the trip. Getting close big Johnnie. HE’S A GUNSLINGER improved sharply last start and has a good association with Jade McNaught. SEA WAR racing below his best. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – NOTORIOUS ONE WIN RACE 4 PINK N GRAY has come back to racing in super form. Tracked a hot tempo when scoring first-up and then stepped into a reasonably deep Saturday race when only run down late by Carabinier and Playing Red. Has returned consistent ratings for the last 6 months and any of them are good enough to be right in the finish here. AY TEE EMM might be looking for 1200 now and gets in well at the weights after the claim. VALENTE has his first start in WA and brings intrigue but rarely steps out past 1000m. ORISTANO broke his maiden in style. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – PINK N GRAY EACHWAY RACE 5 BURN ONE DOWN backs up off 5 days, hails from the extremely in-form Adam Durrant yard and looks like he’ll stay all day. Madi Derrick should get him across from a sticky gate and if he does he’ll take running down. AKYOKA FROST drops in grade and comes out of a hot form reference race (Amarissa, Treat Yo Self, Without Reason) which was run 9L faster than average. Should be running a big race. AMERICAN SOUL knows how to loom and get beat. Going super but just can’t pinch one. GREAT WATERS can’t draw a gate to save himself. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BURN ONE DOWN WIN RACE 6 REAL GRACE and SAMSURIAN are talented three year olds who are returning and taking on the older horses. REAL GRACE will need an ounce of luck from the draw or a peach from Parnham but with even luck she looks hard to hold out late. Could be worth following over the next few months because when she let down at Pinjarra they lost sight of her. SAMSURIAN should get a wonderful run just in behind them and trialled up nicely for his return. EYE OF TE DAY is much better suited in this class than she was all throughout her 3 year old campaign. Jumps and runs. SMART PRINCESS chased hard last start. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – REAL GRACE WIN RACE 7 MIA DOLCE is astutely placed back into this grade. Was nominated for 3 races over the weekend: Black Heart Bart Stakes, 72+ and this race. Three starts ago she ran second to Cliffs of Comfort and before that in this grade was nosed out on the line. Biggest question is can she hold out Time to Sizzle early? TIME TO SIZZLE is a speed demon and she’ll likely be looking to cross. Not easy to cross Mia Dolce but if there’s one who can do it, it’s Time to Sizzle. SHACKLETON hasn’t been seen for 611 days but the trial was hot. NIGHT VOYAGE always a chance in this grade. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MIA DOLCE WIN RACE 8 DEPUTANO is first-up, no trial at 1400m. Staying mare resuming who looks to have fallen into a winnable race. Last preparation in a 3 year old handicap she ran second at 1500m splitting Kelvin and Last of the Line. That is brilliant form for a C3. If she’s ready to go she can win this. SANS LE SOU was bitterly disappointing last start after an encouraging first-up win. MISS MARIETTA has been going super and wasn’t entitled to win last start but just kept finding. CENSURE is knocking on the door and Darren McAuliffe’s team are all flying. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – DEPUTANO WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,8,10 6,9,10 1,2,3,4,9 1,3,8,9,10 Market Market
