Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on July 1, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MUST RUSH will be looking to find the fence but there are a few others who might have the early toe to hold her on a limb. If she finds the fence she’s hard to hold out but no guarantee of crossing. LA CHAIVE is first-up, no trial and has only been seen once at Narrogin. Was well thought of that day and had little luck. FIRE GODDESS looked to trial well enough over the 930 and is one who does have some speed. Made her debut in a reasonable quality maiden and was not disgraced. HOT TECHNIQUE should get every chance from the draw. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – MUST RUSH WIN RACE 2 JOYRIZE has certainly not been a horse of mine. Big query on just how much ability she possesses but has always been honest and consistent. Dan & Ben Pearce’s team have been in form for a while and Pike has the gate to put her into the race close handy. Won’t get a better chance than this. AUTOMATIC ran as good a race as her first-up and draws a gate to sit closer in the run. EMERALD ROSE has had her chances (28 of them) but is rarely far from the winner. AMBER MAMBA can run a cheeky race at odds. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – JOYRIZE WIN RACE 3 UNIVERSAL PLEASURE should be able to break her duck after two equally as impressive runs to start her career. On debut sat leader’s back and was unable to match motors over the short course with Sweetassa. That filly then pushed Wine Night and Amelia Bedelia in town. She then lead them up and was unable to fend off The Singing Tiger. Should be too strong here. FANDAZZLE does no work from the gate and senior rider goes on. NEW AMSTERDAM has been a touch disappointing compared to market expectations at his last two. Steps up in trip. WHAT PLANET YOU ON was good last start but will need luck. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLEASURE WIN RACE 4 ZIP ZAM ZOOM is undeniably talented and this is probably the weakest maiden he has seen in his career. First-up last preparation ran a close second to Bee Quick beating home subsequent maiden winners Validation, Looks Like Magic and The Full Quid. Last time out finished a close up fifth behind Sir Mambo, Lacevinsky, Nerodio, Bee Quick and beat home Zephyr Queen, Bedouine Belle and Vital Blast. Looks an odds on pop any day of the week. FUSION joins the stables of Jess Valas and while she will stretch out over further is capable of running a race fresh. BREKKY WITH A BANG is only a 2 year old but ran well on debut. LET ME PASS ran well for a new stable. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – ZIP ZAM ZOOM WIN RACE 5 THEHUNTSMEN ran well fresh when specked at a price behind Palaver and subsequent winner Al Mahalo. Last Thursday loomed the winner and didn’t quite overhaul a game Richardson. Query on the form out of that race but should get every chance from the draw on the quick back-up. SMART FASCINATOR stepped up sharply in trip last time out and wasn’t disgraced. Back to the mile and will be a nice pick-up ride for someone. MARCASITE an improver drawn soft. PYRO going well since joining Nathan Turvey. Numbers: 4 – 12 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – THEHUNTSMEN WIN RACE 6 ARROWSWIFT probably heads to the Belmont Classic after this run and on the back of his last start effort there is no reason why he can’t be winning again in a moderate C1 event. Likely to be sent forward by Pateman who rates front runners exceptionally well. Should prove hard to run down. PEARLS FROM HEAVEN is going well and wins a C1 staying event very soon, if not here. ALBY’S PRIDE gets back to the staying trip. Wasn’t a bad effort last start. DESIGNER PRINCE always a first 4 inclusion. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – ARROWSWIFT WIN RACE 7 AMELIA BEDELIA comes out of a super strong 3 year old race behind Wine Night and Sweetassa. That was the start to her interrupted preparation after being a late scratching at the gates the first time she headed to Northam this campaign. She can stalk the speed here and never gave up the chase fresh. Should be hard to beat off that. DRINKWHATYOULIKE is a talented filly resuming for another new stable. Taking her on trust and ability. THE SINGING TIGER was heavily commissioned on debut and duly saluted. Big step into C3 company out of a maiden but looks to have ability. REACTION has to be a chance if gaining a start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 13 Suggested Bet – AMELIA BEDELIA WIN RACE 8 SPEEDY MISS is in a purple patch of form. Has always promised to go through the grades and since seeing a few softer tracks has really impressed. Strong winner close handy two starts ago and then was winning at the 1000m marker last time out. Pike sticks, stays in the same grade and only concedes main rival Stormy Ruler 1kg for a comfortably last start win. STORMY RULER is building into the campaign and should enjoy every favour from the draw. RECHARGER can lead this if Parnham wants to and he is always a top 4 chance. PEARLS AND PRAWNS takes big improvement second-up. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPEEDY MISS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,12 1,2,3,4,6 1,4,5 2,3,4 Market Market
