Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on May 12, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FISH HOOK had absolutely no luck on debut when caught three deep the trip working outside the leader. From gate 1 here she should position up behind the speed and there looks to be a fair bit of it too. From there she gets a far better chance to show what she’s got. ZANGIEF ran well on debut when finishing third to promising youngster Sassy Trader. Steps cleanly and races on the speed but can wobble around. LONG MAY YOU RUN has shown ability at trials both with and without blinkers. Looks to have some ability. ROCK HARD OMARU has not been disgraced at trials and Paul Harvey aboard is a nice bonus. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – FISH HOOK WIN RACE 2 LEICA JAGUAR is going to need some luck in running but has returned to racing very well. First-up finished on the heels of Baby Blues and Sauvegarde before coming from last to run down Amelia’s Contraire. Last start finished a solid fourth behind Saturday types River Beau, Lording and Captain Kink. Worth a spec at the likely double figure quote. MISS CONTEKI won well last start and no knock on her. She’ll land a lovely position in running and looks the obvious on paper. SHOWZALI trialled well for her return and can either lead or box seat from the inside draw. RUBIC ROSE is going alright and can run another place at a price. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – LEICA JAGUAR EACHWAY RACE 3 SKYDANCE is a lightly raced 3 year old resuming off the back of a handy enough trial. Draws a gate here and in a race which really should be almost eachway the field gets a great chance fresh. Ran into a few handy types when last in work and this is not a deep maiden. I FORGOT will be cricket score odds but certainly isn’t impossible. Victoria Corver can really ride and this mare showed a bit at trials before enduring a tough run on debut. BOLSHOI GAL should land a nice position from the soft draw. KIRIGAMI backs up off a solid outing last Wednesday. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – SKYDANCE EACHWAY RACE 4 I’M ICEY has been quietly building into the preparation and strikes a winnable race here fourth up. Last start sat three deep the trip outside the leader and beat the two horses inside of him home by a space. Was a brave effort and here he is drawn gate 1 to lead them or box seat. CLASSI SURVIVOR likely opens a big price for a mare who returned to racing well off the back of a long absence from the track. She should enjoy a very similar run in transit here as well. ANGELIQUES FAME has gone from strength to strength this preparation for a white hot Michael Lane stable. DAISHIO is a pint-sized mare. 60kg a huge ask for such a small horse. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – I’M ICEY EACHWAY RACE 5 SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK had to sustain a run with 60.5kg last time out from a fair way out and was strong enough to still run third on that occasion. Draws a far better gate here and Jordan Turner should have him within striking distance. Progressive galloper with a turn of foot. LIL RED BIKINI drops in grade after sitting on top of a hot tempo last start. Meets Schoolhouse Rock 3.5kg better for being beaten under 2.5L last time they met. ATACAMA SKY is going well enough to run into a placing. TRILLY FILLY will get off them but if they’re making any ground is worth including. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK WIN RACE 6 JARMAN really caught the eye last time out when uncharacteristically bombing the start and then firing through gaps late to finish second behind Wild Front. Schoolhouse Rock ran third in that event and we will get a good sighter into the strength of the form in race 5. Versatile galloper who can be ridden to suit track conditions and looks ready to win. IS A BOMBSHELL had her first outing for Sharon Miller’s yard and never saw daylight. Run was better than it looks on paper. BARTRADER was in the same race and has put in some nice runs this preparation for Brett Mathews. BURNING MAGIC won well last start. If the leaders are rolling her chances are further enhanced. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – JARMAN WIN RACE 7 STAROF BONNIE ROSE is a big class dropper here fourth up in the preparation. Has raced in C3 and 0MWLY company this campaign and now falls into a moderate C1 event. Brad Parnham gets back into the saddle and is drawn gate 1 to do absolutely no work. Looks ready for 1800 and has the best turn of acceleration in the field. CABLE GUY was enormous last start with 61kg when tramping wide without cover and still looming the winner. COOL FROST was good fresh but flat second-up. BLITZ GLORY is going along alright and backs up off 7 days. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – STAROF BONNIE ROSE WIN RACE 8 TRUMP THIS has been super in his two runs for new trainer Tiarnna Robertson. First-up did all he could from last when running a fast finishing fourth behind Star Glitter then charged late at 1400 behind I’m Pretty. Draws a gate for the first time in the campaign and looks suited up to a mile. YOU AM I is a month between runs, gets in well with the 3kg claim. Can settle close handy and is definitely in the mix. LUKE’S CHOICE can race on speed or off speed and goes well from either position. GREY ENGIMA has been around the mark all preparation in harder races than this. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRUMP THIS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,6 3 1,5,8 1,3,4,5 Market Market
