Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 29, 2020April 30, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RUBLICIOUS ROSE had three runs when last in work. Really caught the eye on debut when luckless in a race which has produced winners Casino War, Smile For Me, Kitgum and I Hope you Dance. The second-up run was again luckless and then third up went shin sore. Draws a nice gate, Shaun O’Donnell travelling to Geraldton. All the stars seem to have aligned for her. SCENIC CHARM can do a lot wrong but always be ware of Graeme Hammarquist horses resuming. JAG THE JOKER looks like winning races. RETURN will appreciate the fact that this race is 1100 not 1200. Numbers: 11 – 9 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – RUBILICIOUS ROSE WIN RACE 2 MOSSERATTI could be a big start for the O’Donnell/Green combination. This is the easiest race he has contested in a long, long while and even though he hasn’t won for an eternity he looks to have come back well. His trial was impressive and then has been run off his feet at 1400 and 1600 behind the likes of Lorentinio, Luke’s Gold and Utgard Loki. Gets to 1900 and should get over moderate opposition. STONG HEART was thrown in the deep end in the Geraldton Cup. Previous staying efforts strong. ROLL THE GOODTIMES either turns up or doesn’t. Kind of horse you need 20-1 to follow. THREE GENERATIONS can improve out in trip. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – MOSSERATTI WIN RACE 3 SLUICE BOX continues to draw shocking barriers. Beaux Edwards has her work cut out from the draw but two starts ago was hitting the line powerfully alongside Ouqba Ted who is arguably the most impressive horse in the region at the minute. MAY KEEP HIM won well last start and gets a soft C2. No reason why Alan Kennedy can’t lead and win again. WENDY LYNNE hasn’t been seen for 855 days but on her day she has a big turn of acceleration. Kyra Yuill jumps off Ziera to ride, that’s a push in itself. RUFUS is consistent and should be around the mark in this race. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – SLUICE BOX WIN RACE 4 PARISA continues a very similar thought process for the entire meeting: O’Donnell/Green. This mare tends to get back in her runs but Shaun O’Donnell can get them through the field and she really caught the eye first-up. Couldn’t get into the race last start at 1000m but worth consideration here at 1400. SKINNEN TINS has a big weight to lump but her form in the metro area is extremely strong for this. HOT STYLE has just lost his way a little, maybe weight is catching up with him. KENYLUCK has been a revelation this season and continues to run well. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – PARISA WIN RACE 5 PINSSON ran third last start behind Flying Roar and Trade Talk but didn’t get the best of luck. If you watch the replay on mute then the jury is certainly out whether there was any contact at all with the rail but still Pinsson was bolting in restricted room. Personally believe he had his chance to run them down but gets the nod here regardless. FLYING ROAR is always hard to run down once he hits form. Back in trip isn’t ideal for him but loves it here. TRADE TALK is now carrying 64kg. Really stiff to be copping placing handicap points when top weight in open class. KHAN next best. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PINSSON WIN RACE 6 BALRANTO has now put together three really good efforts. Draws a wide gate and will need some luck but a repeat of any of his last few in this field should see her in the finish. FAIR EUGENIE fresh and drawn a gate more than capable of winning in a wide open race. BRICK SHORT should kick through to lead from the draw and is hard to run down. BANGCRASH has horrible numerical form against his name but is going a bit better than it may read on paper. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – BALRANTO WIN RACE 7 MENINA has been the target of good supper at her last few runs and this looks a nice race for her. Madi Derrick still takes off 3kg in the country area and from the draw this mare shouldn’t do any work in the run. If she can hold leader’s back she’s right in the mix. RED EPIC comes out of the strongest sectional race of the season to date. With any luck from the awkward draw can be in the finish. BAI BAI is a dirt horse but can run a race fresh. PUB BRAWL just needs a bit further. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MENINA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,5,6 1,2,3 5,6,7,10,11 1,9 Market Market
