Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 13, 2020February 17, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 DIAMOND TRADE trialed very well heading into this preparation and then raced well below market expectations first-up. Did sit three deep the trip but had cover and faded badly. Improved sharply at her second start and put the writing on the wall. 1400 looks up her alley and this is a nice assignment for her. TRADE FAIR EXPRESS comes from the same race and draws the inside gate. If he can hold up leader’s back he’ll take beating. FORGOTTEN JEWEL showed ability at trials. Drawn a little sticky but looks like he’ll be winning races. I HOPE YOU DANCE has the 3kg claim and drew in the carpark last weekend. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIAMOND TRADE WIN RACE 2 SECAIT has her second preparation for the Neville Parker yard and the warm up trials have both been equally as impressive. Was a shade disappointing when last in work but if she can get out cleanly and come out running should find a nice position over the speed. Good race for her. NELLY ZANE was eye catching on debut when charging through the line. UNIVERSAL ANGEL was scratched from a similar assignment a fortnight ago and if starting here would have scratched from a winnable maiden at Bunbury Thursday. CITY CENTRE was crossed last start and disappointing thereafter. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – SECAIT WIN RACE 3 GUARDED was tough on debut when still there with 100m to go after sitting deep no cover the trip from a tough gate. Now with the race experience he draws a gate and should get a far better run in transit. Clearly has the firepower to turn the tables on Dom To Shoot. DOM TO SHOOT was a strong winner at his most recent and there is no reason why he can’t win again. ORIENTAL WARRIOR ran some encouraging sections on debut and now draws a far better gate. Paul Harvey aboard catches the eye and he was a type in the yard. JANAURA back to 1000 on the 7 day back up is dangerous. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – GUARDED WIN RACE 4 PLUTOCRACY is knocking on the door continually drawing bad gates. This is no easier but a fast run 1000m could be in his favour. Drawn underneath Illustrious Tycoon should ensure he gets some cover. DANNY GEORGE was well thought of first-up in a quality race but never really travelled like the winner. Back to 1000m could be the key to his winning chances. The yard is not firing but he is a quality animal. ILLUSTRIOUS TYCOON worked hard in a fast run race first-up and still finished off well. Keep safe. HOBOKEN is always dangerous from three back the fence. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PLUTOCRACY WIN RACE 5 VALOUR ROAD was simply no match for Cup Night last start. There are no Cup Nights in this race and even though he has to lump 60kg from an awkward barrier draw he should still be able to get over this field. Only 3 horses inside the Handicap so the 60 is not a worry on paper. THE CELT has been racing well below his best recently and it wouldn’t surprise for him to improve sharply. FLOWER OF WAR backs up off 7 days from a race where she really had no right to win (and yet she bolted in). SARACINO was a little stiff not to finish closer last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – VALOUR ROAD WIN RACE 6 SUPERSTORM has so much X-Factor about him. He really is an exciting proposition because of how new and raw and green he is. He has a huge turn of foot and once the penny drops looks like being anything. Set Weights and Penalties suits him and his trial was brilliant. Should hold too much firepower. TUSCAN QUEEN oozes quality. Her trial was only fair but expecting a different horse race day. NAUGHTY BY NATURE was nothing short of electric first-up when cruising to victory. Small query the rail out form. MONTELENA is her own worst enemy. If she can keep herself together she can run a big race. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – SUPERSTORM WIN RACE 7 PATRISTIC should find the front relatively soft from gate 4. Kristy Bennett takes 3kg off so he goes around with only 55 on his back and from there is the one they all have to run down. He marched into a strong SW breeze last start over a mile and was only run down by one out of the box (Inspirational Girl). She bound to the lead and take serious running down. MEDIA BARON is flying. He will get a long way off the leader but can charge late in his races. GUNNAGO draws a little awkward for him in gate 1 but he is clearly in form. DEBELLATIO should get a nice run just behind the speed. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PATRISTIC WIN RACE 8 SPECIAL CHOICE returns to the races after a let up and her initial preparation was excellent. Winner first-up from an impossible position, second in the Belgravia Stakes then fourth in the Champion Fillies and WA Guineas. Recent trial effort was strong and this is not a deep field. She looks very well placed against the older horses. BOBCAT JOHNNIE didn’t get the best of luck first-up over the short course. Steps up to 1400, reunites with his old mate Alan Kennedy and has a serious motor. INFLATION has not had the best campaign with everything that could go wrong going wrong for him. Draws a gate and is an improver. PLAYING MARIKA regained her lost admirers last weekend. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL CHOICE WIN RACE 9 NAVY BLUE is racing in career best form. The effort at Albany was huge and then the win midweek was very strong. Drawn a gate, can settle right over the speed and strikes a field that doesn’t hold any stars. Gets a wonderful chance at recording a Saturday win. PLAYS THE GAME was nominated for the Albany Cup and instead accepts here. His last start effort was strong and is leaving the gates and racing far more genuinely than 6 months ago. BARBIE WILL DO looks well placed with the 3kg claim. Got shuffled back at crucial stages last week in a forgive run. MYCROFT is not going well but drops sharply in grade and has been supported at his last two. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – NAVY BLUE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2 3,6 9 1,2,3,4,5,8,11 Market Market
