Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 14, 2019November 18, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SENTIMENTAL GIFT is the obvious and will take a stack of beating. In her two runs beyond 2000m she has been an effortless winner. She should track up three deep from the 600 and score again. THROWDOWN should be nearing peak fitness third up. In a race with only moderate tempo involved there may a temptation to roll forward and pinch a break on the favourite PERSISTENCE TIME is a one paced stayer and ran an intriguing race last start. Laid out on the corner and looked gone before coming again in the last 50m. He’ll be there in the finish. BON SIGNORE won well last start and can go well again. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL GIFT WIN Race 2 NIGHT VOYAGE will definitely sneak under the radar. Jade McNaught back aboard cannot be underestimated with the pair getting along extremely well and in a high tempo race with the likes of Undisclosed, Dia De La Raza, Abu Dhabi and More Aces likely to sizzle early he’s the blow out from three back the fence. MORE ACES was good last start in a strong race behind Uni Time. First furlong will be key to his winning chances. DUTCH SPY freshened up, month between runs, back to 1000m catches the eye. He is a massive animal and a big winning chance. MACROY loves the 1000 at Ascot, she’ll flash late. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – NIGHT VOYAGE EACHWAY Race 3 ROYAL COMMAND was doing his best work late fresh in a race where he looked like doing it tough from back in the field. Angled outwards on straightening he balanced up and finished off powerfully. Draws a gate second up and looks hard to beat. MEGAZONE should end up leader’s back or at worst three back the fence and on a day where the rail could be hot. Was a barnstorming winner two starts ago and then couldn’t get into a race dominated from the front last time out. MANKIND could not have been more impressive at trials or first-up. Looks in for a big campaign. LORENTINIO should settle just off Sir Mambo and Avidus and run a race again. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROYAL COMMAND WIN Race 4 NOT TO BE MIST was a good thing beaten first-up when the leaders went 9L slower than average in the first 600. From there he was impossible. Last start he found traffic issues and was held up when bolting. He should refill the pockets of some starving punters here. LACEVINSKY should bounce straight to the top and control the tempo. No surprise to see Carbery accelerate into the corner and try to pinch it. GILLESPIE is finding it desperately hard to win a second race but the form behind Turbo Power was enhanced Wednesday. PLAYING MARIKA is a nice enough mare but drawn tough fresh. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 6 – 12 Suggested Bet – NOT TO BE MIST WIN Race 5 REGAL POWER lost no admirers first-up in the Northerly Stakes. He loomed as the winner and was found wanting late when Samizdat zoomed past him. Should enjoy a lovely run in transit a pair ahead of Platoon and two pairs in front of Mississippi Delta. Very hard to beat. PLATOON is in a purple patch and knows how to win. 12/10 first-up from Steve Parnham was followed up with a 10/10 second-up. MAJINIKA ran out of his skin last week at WFA. Runs a cheeky race dropping 5kg off 7 days. MISSISSIPPI DELTA would be an all-in favourite for the Perth Cup if there was a market available. Trialed the house down but could settle last behind some sharp 1500 types. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – REGAL POWER WIN Race 6 FORCEFUL had to work for his victory last Saturday and may have been only fair to the eye when saluting at $1.70 but they got along at a good clip and he did what he had too. His previous effort over 1800 behind Cockney Crew was enormous and backing-up off 7 days, drawn a gate, he has this race at his mercy. DOUBLE DIGIT can run a cheeky race from leader’s back. TAXAGANO is going great guns but looks like marching 3 deep the trip. FRIAR FOX has the necessary turn of foot to win this with the right run. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – FORCEFUL WIN Race 7 TUSCAN QUEEN vs KAY CEE round 2. Very exciting and if either of them make it through to the Kingston Town they’ll be well found in a G1. Both draw to sit wide and back and they should be making their runs together. Siding with TUSCAN QUEEN who may not have been exactly suited last start towing the rest of the field to the leaders. Brave in defeat. KAY CEE is a serious filly and has the gun power to sit behind Tuscan Queen and get over her again. SANABREANNA was brave in the Burgess Queen and Harvey may even send her to the top to shake things up. NATIVE CHIMES is better than what she displayed at Bunbury on Cup Day. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet – TUSCAN QUEEN WIN Race 8 MISTY METAL was no match for FLIRTINI last start but putting in the switch from the Prince of Wales and putting her on top. If she jumps cleanly she should muster enough speed to cross Battle Hero or at worst sit outside him. From there she’ll hold a big map advantage over main rivals and can turn the tables. FLIRTNI let down like a star last time out and if she reproduces that barnstorming finishing sprint will be extremely hard to hold out. STAGEMAN is low flying. If he gets a nice cart into the race he can definitely win. VALOUR ROAD again draws tough and sticky. Has been set alight early in the past to good effect. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISTY METAL WIN Race 9 NELSON’S FLIGHT has had some hard luck in his recent races. Can’t draw a gate and has had a few small freshen ups between runs. This race looks a suitable assignment for him. He can spring the gates for Noske and slide forward to sit right over the speed. Tough old campaigner who can win at a price. INFLATION is ready to win third up. Draws a gate to sit one out and one back and has been running well over the short course. SOPHIE’S SONG leads or box seats and improved sharply second-up. ADRIAN MAKFI will need luck from the draw but is racing well. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – NELSON’S FLIGHT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 4 2,4 5,6 2,3,4,5,7,10,14 Market Market
