Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on October 16, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MORE FIZZ was making solid ground on debut at 1300 and looks even better suited stepping up to the mile. With an uninterrupted run in transit she should salute at start number 2. POWDERBELLE has always shown a level of ability. TREAT YO SELF looks like needing every inch of the mile but finished off well in a recent 950 trial. DEPUTANO caught the eye on debut. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – MORE FIZZ WIN Race 2 SOUTHSTAR and ROBERTA should have this race between them. They both trial impressively recently and going with SOUTHSTAR due to the barrier draw. Didn’t show a stack of gate speed in the only public outing but banking on Pike to muster through to hold leader’s back. Should be hard to beat from there. ROBERTA found on well on speed in a recent trial when sporting blinkers. GUNNEDOO has a maiden in her. VITALILO is racing consistently. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SOUTHSTAR WIN Race 3 POWER AND PASSION should be winning this. Melteme unfortunately comes out which is another large % out of the market and makes him ~$1.65 but his first-up effort behind Position of Power was strong and he looks a class above rivals. DALGARANGA ran well first-up. REACTION is knocking on the door. VAGABOND BOY fresh and back in trip can improve. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – POWER AND PASSION WIN Race 4 FRIDAY FILLIES has been a little hard to follow this preparation. She is in really good form and racing extremely well but her racing pattern gets the better of her from time to time. Scratched from a 1200 to be saved for this more suitable assignment. If she is within 3L on the corner she’ll be hard to hold out. CLASSIC PRO is well placed after the 4kg claim for Lucky Laqdar. SOUNDCHECK was solid at his debut for the Parker yard. CELIATORE won well last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – FRIDAY FILLIES WIN Race 5 BAFFLING and SNOW BAMBOO both come from the same hot form race behind Jarman, Sublime Image and Sentimental Gift. They were both good runs and both look the ones to beat in a weak mile maiden. BAFFLING was held up at crucial stages into the corner and couldn’t build momentum. Should be given clear air from the draw. SNOW BAMBOO was solid fresh and draws soft. GOLDVEIN likely opens favourite. Was a much improved run last start and now Pike jumps aboard. SPECIAL IMAGE will get better into the prep. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – BAFFLING WIN Race 6 HEART OF COEUR drops from a Saturday 60+ graduation back to a C3, looks better suited at 1400 than 1200, draws a gate and is a big strong animal more than capable of carrying 60kg to victory. Lean little spell for Brodie Kirby but this is a wonderful ride to remind trainers of his talents. FINGERMARK rarely runs a bad race and draws to box seat. FORK HANDLES is a query at 1400m but should slide across and get it quite comfortable. TAP THE GO GO was completely unsuited on a leader bias Kalgoorlie surface. Forgive and she’s right in it. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – HEART OF COEUR WIN Race 7 OBSTINATION is the half sister to Gatting and put the writing on the wall last time out when running second to Miss West Coast beating home the likes of Warfish and Drinkwhatyoulike. Should box seat and take a stack of beating. CORNFLOWER was a really good trial and impressed on debut. SHADOW SHIFTER was brave in defeat last start when ridden really well by Kristy Bennett. 4kg claimer goes on and can lead. ANNIHILATOR was handy at Kal. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – OBSTINATION WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,6 4,7,10 1,3,4,7 3,10,11 Market Market
