Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on March 21, 2019March 25, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DEACALDA won impressively on debut and then was backed strongly at her second race start when nothing much went well. Tipped out and has returned with a nice trial effort. Blinkers go on, drawn to box seat and should prove hard to beat. EXCISE FREE is a speedy filly who will be looking to find the fence. She’s fast and will take running down. BEDOUINE BELLE looks a nice type in the making. She should sit forwards of midfield and be right there. CRISTAL DANE is worth following but this is a tough assignment for her. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DEACALDA WIN Race 2 DOUBLE BUBBLE is well placed here. Avoids the 3 year old race to enjoy weight relief against a number of horses who have well and truly bet their mark. She is progressive and should bounce out of the gates. Likely sits in the breeze and takes a stack of beating. TRUTH AND LIES will be put straight into the box seat by a white-hot Mitchell Pateman. COMPARATIVE comes from an in form stable and bounced back to some of his better form last start. PLUTOCRACY was given a gun run last start and was fair at his WA debut. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 13 – 6 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE BUBBLE WIN Race 3 MIDNIGHT SKY has run second at her last five starts. She continues to savage the line and if she can be winding up three deep with cover into the corner she should be breaking through for another deserved win here. GREY ENIGMA drops in grade and his last two wins have been in this grade. Draw hurts but can’t be discounted at a big price. THREE SECRETS is bursting to win one and again draws to sit close handy. He is likely to be again well supported. CLASSIC PRO is racing without any luck but going well. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 9 – 13 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT SKY WIN Race 4 JERICHO MISSILE really does pick himself. He has knocked off two nice fillies in his two career wins and maps to sit right behind the speed. On face value it looks as though the fillies have the quality edge but he is the best of the colts and geldings. BEETHOVEN ran well first-up and should only improve with the fitness. BUBAROOCHY was strongly backed to win at Pinjarra and has likely been set for this. WARFISH is capable of finding the front and causing the boilover at odds. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – JERICHO MISSILE WIN Race 5 PRIM AND PROPER should enjoy the run of the race from the draw. She is fairly foolproof in her racing and in a very strong edition of the Gimcrack looks the ‘safe’ way to play. AMELIA’S ON FIRE was relatively untested on debut when Pike never struck her with the whip. Won under her own steam and should only improve. IS A BOMBSHELL bombed the start badly on debut and ran a big race all things considered. If she steps she could be the sharp improver. NICCOVI will be the most interesting runner in the first 100m. Where does Carbery head from the gate? If she gets any luck then she’ll be right there. Numbers: 1 –6 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRIM AND PROPER EACHWAY Race 6 ACHERNAR STAR was given one of the better rides you will see all year at Bunbury by Damien Oliver last start. He burnt early, put the brakes on to find a position and then had to make another run at them in the home straight. Enormous win and from the gate should get every chance to win again. MIZLECKI is somewhat racing out of her weight division against these proven older horses but her two runs with big weights this campaign have been nothing short of sensational. TELLEM WE’RE COMIN arguably should have won the Bunbury stakes but draws poorly. VARIATION should improve lengths on his first outing in over a year last start and connections throw Arthur Barrett’s son-in-law on. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – ACHERNAR STAR WIN Race 7 MYCROFT proved in the Bunbury Cup that he can stay. Worked hard early to find a position and then pulled himself from leader’s back to sit in the breeze for the majority of the race. From the gate he puts himself into a position and either of his last two efforts sees him very hard to beat. BEAUCOUNT was the target of huge support in the Esperance Cup and went down on his nose as the gates open. Ready to run a race. MEDIA BARON finally draws a gate but has had a lot of chances. UPWARD OTHERS really does deserve to win one of these this prep. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – MYCROFT WIN Race 8 LIKE A BUTTERFLY is a hard mare to catch. Has now been a long time since she won the Ascot 1000 Guineas as a 3 year old filly. From the gate she should be allowed to find her feet and if there’s a three deep train into the home corner she’ll hit the line hard. FORCEFUL is a big query at the trip but the way he finished off last start was breathtaking. FRIARESQUE puts the brakes on when he hits the front. He is likely to again loom the winner. ROCKON TOMMY would be hard to run down if he brings his mile form to 1800m. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – LIKE A BUTTERFLY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,6,8,9 1,8,10 3,5,7,10,11 1,2,5,6,7 Market Market
