Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on July 20, 2018July 20, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 5 NO.3 LIFT The Byerley Handicap (1800m) is a chance for the late season two year olds to step out over a longer distance and the Darren Weir trained LIFT looks an exciting prospect that can measure up to win this race. The son of Reliable Man made a promising debut finishing second behind BRITISH MEDIUM over 1600 metres at Ballarat on June 24. Whilst he looked quite green and inexperienced on that occasion, the chestnut powered home over the final stages suggesting that the extra distance and the benefit of raceday experience will be in his favour. In-form apprentice Ben Allen takes the ride and LIFT looks an emerging stayer of the future that can record his first win. RACE 6 NO.1 BRAVE SONG Sydney visitor BRAVE SONG resumes from a spell when he runs in the TAB/ATA Trainers Trust Handicap (1100m) and looks primed to make a winning return to the track. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained galloper has been gelded since his last campaign and his two recent trials would suggest that he is in very good form. He showed stakes class form last preparation which is superior to his rivals and this looks a target race for him on his way to better class races. Damian Lane, who has enjoyed a tremendous season, has been chosen to ride BRAVE SONG who looks one of the standout bets of the day. RACE 7 NO.4 NIGHT FALLS NIGHT FALLS has always been a talent that is starting to fulfil his potential and looks the one to beat again when he runs in the Murray Cox Handicap (1600m). The son of Redoutes Choice took time to record his first win but has now won three wins of his past five starts including a dominant win over 1500 metres at Gawler on July 7. This looks a natural development as he steps up in class and distance which he is ready to tackle successfully. He is a typical product of the Darren Weir stable in that he has been given time to learn his trade and is now reaping the benefits. He looks the emerging horse in this field that should continue on his winning way. Market Market
